Hi all, first of all allow me to say how refreshing it is to know that should anything go wrong there is a large community on here with countless knowledge and advice Smile.

Right, I'm new to biking, bought myself a second hand Yuan 125-23 the other day (yes, i know, Chinese bikes seem to be a huhe no no on here) but i'm merely after 3-6months of experiance on 2 wheels before i can go in for my test.

Upon getting the bike there were problems too numerous to mention, the clocks, the fuel gage, the bearings, bushes, clutch, brakes etc.
However my dad has managed to fix pretty much every problem we found...except 2!

First of all: The electrics for the bike ran perfectly around 12V upon getting the bike and taking it for a quick ride to suss on problems etc. The battery reader hovered around 12V the entire time. However, after repairing and fixing the headlights, indicators and what not and starting the bike, we noticed the needle immediately begins to turn....going wellll past the 12V and even 15V markers. At this point we switch off so as not to fry anything.

All the electrics still work, and the Fuses are all great. So really stuck? :s Anyone experianced anything similar??

The other problem we have had is the Revmeter, according to the guy its not worked for months, but as it wasn't needed the guy did nothing about it. We have made sure all the wires attach into the back of the clock tight, but are unable to follow the yellow/black wire to see where it connects.. could this be a sensor problem ?

After 3 days of head scratching we are begining to give up as it wouldn't be needed to pass its first MOT next month.. but I would like it to be working tbh.

Any and all help is appreciated, thank you x

If the rev counter is all-electronic then it's probably getting it's signal from the coil trigger wire. It might be getting it from the ECU though so you might try looking at the ECU plug for your yellow/black wire to see if that's where it's connected. If the wire is in place then the best likelyhood is that the tacho (rev counter) is fubared.

As for the volt meter - when the bike is running the charging system should be putting out approx 14.5v. Use a volt meter across the battery to cross-check the bike's gauge is reading true. If it is actually going higher than 14.5v then you might have a duff regulator/rectifier.

What was wrong with the lights and indicators - were the bulbs all blown? If so, I'd say it's over-charging.

Thanks for the heads-up, i'll show my dad this when he gets home and get him to have a look. Smile thanks alot for advice

As for the electrics, the lights were all working etc but the mong who we bought it off had SOLDERED the wires directly to the bulbs as the holders were damaged, so we have replaced the holders and replaced the bulbs.

The voltage was all fine up until we did this and fixed the Speedometer... but the speed meter is all mechanical so i doubt this could have effected the electrical system :/

I'll get him to try the volt meter

I've seen a few Chinese bikes. A couple were just crap, made of cheese.

But a friend had a Kimco that seemed pretty well screwed together.

What's a revometer?! Surprised my bike doesn't have one of those. Do
I need one? Are they cool?!

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?
