Gaming Chair Conversion - for fun!

Right then my fellow geeks.

I have an old computer chair, leather seat and back, on wheels, kinda tatty.

It has two thin plastic armrests.


Now, I want to Pimp it up - but make no mistake. I am not looking for something amazing, absolutely state of the art. I want as much bodge as possible, I can try to make it aestetically pleasing afterwards, I'll find a way.

What Im looking for are ideas.

So far - Im thinking of creating some small 'ears' for the top of the back to house small speakers.

Re-dress the leather and make it look nice again. Plump up the arms for maximum gaming comfort (or remove them altogether and give it a more 'bucket seat' feel.)

I'm definitely keen on making 'fold away' armatures for it - upon which could be mounted certain things. For instance, a gear stick on the left etc, maybe a bracket for pedals.

Go wild with your ideas, anything that could be done for a giggle on the cheap.

I might 'lower' it, attach a sub underneath and neon strips.

I dont think it would be tooooo hard to modify a small box to act as a socket for the chair - getting hold of a few cores to act as a dedicated plug/cable affair for it wouldnt be too expensive for me.

By all means include ebay listings for certain parts you think could be integrated into a computer chair - I've not got a set budget, so I can decide if its feasable or not.

i did the same once.

although i gave up after fitting some creative labs speakers to the top of the backrest, a sub to the back of the backrest and motors for vibration like you get in console controllers.
