As the title suggests I now need some new rubber for the 9.

I've got a budget of around £200 and I'm at a loss which tyresto go for.

I don't do alot of motorway miles but I ride twenty miles a day to work and back. I'm looking for something that's pretty hard living but not so much that I can't blast at weekend. I'm not talking about doing trackdays on them but I still want enough to get my bike over in the twisties.

I had some Avon storms on my CBR and they were fantastic tor tyre life but the only time I ever got them to the temp I wanted was in Spain on very hot Tarmac.

I've not bought tyres for abit but last time I looked properly (can't right now my Internet access is limited to my iPhone and it's quite tedious looking on here!) Michelin 2ct seemed pretty good.

So good people of BCF can you help with recommendations or tell me what you've had.

The tyres are 180/55 but I've been told a 180/50 is a better size.

Thanks.

Pilot Road 2CT's are a very good compromise, wear well in the middle but get up to temp quickly in the dry, also very good in the wet. Pirelli Diablo's are a cheaper option but the middle does square off a bit quicker.

It may be down to the rider, I find them terrible.
I loaned my bike to m0l0t0v and even he didn't really rate them.

I think I'm going to go back to bridgestone after trying these.. But I must admit they are fairy hard wearing in the centre. I've hardly noticed any wear and ive covered about 1800miles on them, previous owner did 1500 on them. Fairly good on my Pansy 600 Laughing

I'll be sticking Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa's (a bit of a mouthful) on in the next few weeks. The Supercorsa Pro's I had were insanely sticky but just wear down too quick.

Plus you can personalise it with a wee sticker of your liking, gimiky and sad, but there if you want it.

What sizes are you running? One of my mates was telling me to change front and rear for better turn in speed!

Stick with a 180/55 over a 50, the turn in will be quicker with a 55!

Iv'e got Pilot Power Pure's, there really good, very sticky, feel better then my Diablo Corsa III's, but the life of them isn't meant to be to good! Iv'e done around 1500 miles on them and can tell there not going to last to much longer. Might be able to squeeze 3000 miles out of them, but I do mostly fast road riding, so they don't last to long. Wear is even though, not squaring off, its wearing very well. Dry grip is incredible and wet grip is amazing as well!

Although, you might be better off with the Pilot Road 2 for what you want! Stick with a 180/55 or 190/55 rear though! And a 120/70 front!

What's the difference or benefits between 180 or a 190?

Slightly better grip with a 190, probably not something you would notice!

I run a 190 because that's what the bike came with from new, but I run a 55 instead of the 50 profile it came with as I like a quicker turn in!

I have got Pilot Road 2's on my 9r - they are fine.

I had Corsa III's before, they were fine too but only lasted 3k miles of 40 mile motorway commuting and weekend blasting...

Hoping for twice that from the Pilots.

Interestingly, the Corsa III front tyre wore out as quicky as the rear. Must be my heavy braking style riding... in fact, the brake pads are nearly gone too.... Thinking
