Again I have managed to throw my scooter down the road. It slipped on a island. Another two new fairings and a new mirror!

Sorry to hear that. Sad But as is said above, at least YOU are OK, thats got to be the main thing.
I had a similar "moment" on an island this morning but I got away with it. The front end let go when I hit a wet manhole cover which I couldn't see because of the glare of the sun on the wet road. Fortunately it gripped again when the front tyre reached the road again. Phew!

Do you actually need new fairings?
Gaffa tape does a great job Wink .... you can always get new fairings when you come to sell it.
It may not be pretty, but it's a lot cheaper, especially if you crash it again Confused.

I almost dumped my FZR yesterday too, comin home and i pulled up to this light that is 2 lanes, but JUST after the light it merges to the left lane...

I was in a rush, and not concerned about the thought of other drivers, so i pulled up to this slammed s-10 (in the right lane)... he looked over and revved his engine... i just looked back and shook my head.

Needless to say he started edging up on the light before it turned green, in honor, and abiding by the unwritten rules of street racing, i held my ground and just gave the motor a constant estimated 5,000rpm rev...

Light turned green and i just slipped out the clutch fast, got thr front wheel up and right as i pulled in front of the tire spinning truck (only about half way through the light) i cut into the left lane, hitting a bump and sending my front tire into a uncontrolled wiggling rage, i took one persons advice and loosened up my grip on the clipons, and let the bike regain control of itself. This was the best desicion i ever made, the bike quickly smoothed out itself... it was just as smooth as doing donuts in a 79 Cadallac on a snowy day....

Anyway, that s-10 tried to ride my ass... which he also failed horribly at (i say TRIED, because everytime i let off the gas he would slowly pull up behind me) and since i didnt feel like gettin rear ended i waiting for the right moment and passed the car in front of me, never seeing the s-10 again

Well after doing some work I have managed to block up the hole in the indicator with some silicone. As for the fairings i have managed to paint two of them with some car paint its a little bit darker blue but as it is on the bottom you can't really tell. The brake lever was ground down and have just stuck some paint on it same again with the mirror after I had straightened it. Whilst doing all te painting i also noticed I had cracked the exsaust cover have gled that and painted it so hopefully now it looks a bit better when I come to get rid (hopefully soon) I may look at replacing the panels.

And what happend is I hit a draincover going round a island slipped lost it and then my scooter nearly got run over by some nova boys. Who pointed and laughed whilst I was lying on the floor!

Harsh!

Good to hear your OK, Laura.

Try not to do it again, especially in the presence of Nova Bois. Getting caught on a horribly low front skirt can't be nice Razz.

Unlucky Boobies.
Are you sure you really want a faired bike though? If you're having trouble keeping a scooter rubber-side-down a real bike's gonna get costly

Yeah bad luck, remember, don't lean while going over metal drains in the wet or in bad conditions, it will 9 times out of 10 end in tears. If you're prone to crashing a faired bike is a bad idea Razz

Bad luck laura Rolling Eyes as said above its best not to push too hard in the wet especially on a light scooter with tiny crappy tyres.

When I had my scooter I found it was very nasty riding in the wet as the tyres slid so easily. Once on a bigger bike with decent tyres I found it much better.

Don't spend a fortune fixing it up by the way, some scuffs arent going to effect its value that much.

Oh no, oh well at least your ok!

Try to totally avoid drain covers in the wet, getting a faired bike may be an expensive mistake if you bin it though, look at the RS I never repaired it because its so damn expensive to do so!

I found that the difference from just a 50cc scooter to the NSR the grip on the NSR was far far greater.
And that was with Pirelli MT's on.

And we all know how well they preform in the wet Wink

Just with the 400cc bike your going for i would watch out for the engine breaking and how more responsive the engine will be!

But you crash more than me Wink
