as topic states i got a cg125 2003 model and only just getting back into biking after years away from them . what spares do you regulary keep stock of for quick repairs .
i can only think of
spare headlight \indicater bulbs
spark plug
do i need spare points or anything like that ? are they likely to need changing ?

also my cg has 3750 miles on it with 6 owners and im wondering if there genuine miles on the clock.

ive never serviced a bike and think it may be due a service so thinking of getting a service when i mot it in a couple of weeks ,
when they service a bike do they clean out the carb and fully tune the bike ? get the timing spot on etc ?
cheers

I'm new to all this too but i can tell you that the timing is not adjustable on your bike and it has not got points, it uses CDI ignition so that's 2 of your worries solved Thumbs Up

I change the oil on my cg every 1000 miles which seems to keep it sweet. If thats a genuine mileage then it shouldnt need the carbs servicing yet unless youre having problems. CG's are often only used till people pass their tests so 6 owners and 3000-4000 miles is possible. Is it in good nick? Any paperwork to corroborate? My advice is get a manual and start with changing the oil and spark plug, its so easy its a shame to involve a garage. You'll soon get the bug and build up to some of the bigger tasks. The oil filter doesnt need changing which is a bonus....you can just whip it out and give it a good clean (i use petrol to clean it). Keep an eye on chain tension and condition of sprockets. Lots of lube on chain. Brake fluid change is good every now and then. Air filter renewal is an easy job too. Enjoy...the cg is a great bike to learn the basics of mechanics on.

the reason i thought it may need a service is if ive been driving at speed (55mph) lol then slow down for a roundabout or a sharp turn and drop down a gear then back up it seems to be a little sluggish to respond on accelleration for a couple of seconds or maybe its just me thinking it should be more responsive , i dont want to clean carb meself as i need it for work and im bound to mess something up ,
but thanks for the other replies guys
