Was struggling with a lower engine mount when I recieved some eyeball medication... in the form of Castrol Actevo....

Doing and engine swap on the RXS and the clamped oil run from the tank decided to pick the right time to drip on me... Sad

Didn't hurt like petrol of brake cleaner at first but now is getting a bit irritated... Just wash with water and wait for it to sort itself out?

Earlier, I was bleeding my front brake at the master cylinder banjo bolt and got a little squirt of Dot 4 in the eye. Feels okay now though... Shifty

I heard cauterizing your whole eye is the only way to stop the castrol from giving you aids.

Rinse your eyeball with giga-fucka-tons of water. I find a plastic measuring jug from the kitchen works well. Use tepid water, not cold, else it'll be harder to keep your eye open. Spout against your nose and pour the water onto your tear duct so it runs across your eye.

I got chain cleaner in my eye, and that stung like a bitch.

Bare in mind that most things like that say you should rinse your eyes for 10 minutes if it contacts your eyes... I'd just do about 5 litres of water or so.

Yes, I've done this a few time, and too many trips to A&E Sad Permanently scarred left eye, just on the edge of my cornea. Very lucky it doesn't obstuct my vision.

Should really invest in:

Funny cause I look after health and safety in our department at work and always wear the right stuff when doing anything in the workshop, but at home I'm a nightmare!

I would defo go to A&E or your GP asap.

Eye's are not easily replacable. eg: I went swimming in a lake when with friends, I had my daily disposable contact lenses in, my eye felt a bit irritated as we were splashing each other etc (didn't go underwater with eyes open though as not poss with lenses in). Eye wasn't hurting, just felt dry. I rode home the next day (a couple of hundred miles - new set of lenses in that morning). Eye was feeling dry all the way back and uncomfortable. The next morning, first thing, I went to local eye hospital (yes Brighton has one) just to get checked.

Turns out I had a tiny cut on my eye into which lake bacteria had got - medication eye drops EVERY HOUR FOR NEXT 48 HOURS, then every two hours for another 48 hours, then every three hours for 48 hours, then every four hours for 11 days! Shocked Was told by eye doc that if I deviated form this regime by sleeping / being lazy / can't be bothered, then there would be a high probability I would go blind in that eye.

Anyway all cleared up as followed regime to letter, however a year later I went to see if I could have laser surgery to correct my vision (pricey but thought it'd be good not to have to ever wear glasses / lenses). They refused to consider any treatment due to the scarring on my eye caused by the above.

Moral: look after your eyes or wave bye bye to biking (and porn Wink ).
