Hi all,

Its my birthday in a couple of weeks so I thought I would treat myself to a bit of motocross. The thing is that I really dont know where to start. Rolling Eyes

Does anyone know of/recommend a motocross place in Surrey that will be able to supply the bike/gear too. a 250cc bike should be powerful enough as I've only ridden MX on track once before.

Thanks all, Karma given as always Thumbs Up

You'd be surprised how powerful a proper 125cc MX bike is.

+1

One of my mates had a Honda CR125 tuned up to race in local level competition. Apart from a 16hr piston life the thing was very very rapid.... The mental delivery didn't help matters either...

I preferred riding the XR400, which was also available, to the CR as it was much easier to control for a novice with its lower state of tune and much flatter delivery.

The cr 125 was the bike I rode last time I was on track off road (about 2 years ago). It does feel faster than a 125 should ever feel but I was still wanting more power quite quickly.

I can't recommend the Yamaha Off road Experience enough. I paid £170 found out after you can get 10% off if you have a Yamaha bike.

I went to Goldings Barn.

Here is a video of the a run.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dq8B0BnnsWo

In the Video 2.44 scared the shit out of me everytime, it is really steep.

4.35 was a bugger too, coming down hill then turning and going uphill, you fell like the front is going to wash out, got to be fun this evening.

5.18 onwards are the to corners I run wide at, the second on is just before a jumper and there is really rutted ground on the far right I always seemed to hit and was worried about going to far and falling sideways of the jump. I have on idea why but every time I went wide there and usually went wide the one before it too.

They give you all the gear

It's expensive but you don't have to worry about a thing, everything is provide and it doesn't matter if you drop the bike.

This place:

https://www.mxtryout.co.uk/

That was the place that taught me how to ride and basically was my ticket round the parents issue. They provide all the gear and bike.

I went to Ipswich for my day back in 2006 and I can say, they're excellent.

That looks amazing!! How long did you get on the track mate? Is it an all day thing?

It's an all day thing you get about 10 5-10 minute sessions I think. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but after i felt like I could have done one more but would have wanted to call it quits after. It is very tiring.
