Re:

1997 R Plate
FV model

Hi folks,

I am new to these forums and in need of some advice.

I recently bought a 1997 Suzuki GSX600 F FV model bike. From the outside, the bike looks great. However, as I rode it home (a whole 400 miles) I discovered that there may perhaps be a hole somewhere in the exhaust.

I took it to my local mechanic and he said the manifold had been previously welded and that there was a high chance that the bolts would snap in the head and the system would break away.

The exhaust fitted was standard and I decided to grind off the end cans at either side and fit two scorpion cans with a 3 bolt adaptor. This still did not do the trick and there was still a rasping sound coming from the manifold / downpipes. Upon further investigation, I found the exhaust to be in a really bad condition, so I have removed the full system.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could pick up a second hand system (minus the cans as I already have these) or advise if it was probably better to buy a new system. I saw this Nexxus full system online, only thing is the price. Given that I have a 1 year old and the current financial climate its not feasible at the minute, although it certainly looks the part.

Also, does anyone know I can just replace the current 4-2 system with a 4-into-1 system?

Thanks in advance for any advice or posts.

Cheers
Jim

ive still got the exhaust system somewhere. its a 4 -> 1 with 51mm slipon fititng.

Seems like the easiest answer is to ask Chris if he can find the exhaust and how much. At a guess I think the pipes were only about three years old when I sold it.

Thanks Guys,

Chris, if you manage to find them can you let me know pls mate and also your asking price. the 3 bolt-on adaptors are 83mm between each hole.

Do you have the can aswell? if the price is right, i'll take it (condition dependant) and I'll advertise my two cans and adaptors on here and other sites i.e. ebay.

thanks again for the replies guys.

appreciated!
Jim

51mm would fit perfectly as I currently have a 2" (or 51mm) link pipe going into the adaptor.

I live in Kilwinning, North Ayrshire in Scotland. Can you get me a total price (including delivery) and I'll let you know if we have a deal?

Have you got any photos you can post or email me at jmckee5602@yahoo.co.uk.

What payment methods do you accept? Paypal?

cheers!
Jim
