I'm getting Power Pures next weekend, much bigger soft patch than the 2CT's, reviews are loving them right now.

The Diablo IIIs are a good combination of grip with a bit of durability for the road.
I wouldn't buy new pirelli Super Corsa for the road - second hand makes more sense because of the availability.

I wouldn't tocuh a Maxxis with a barge poll, unless the barge poll was on fire at the time!

but im using maxis supermaxx atm. the rear has no chicken strips on it and the front only has half an inch left. they dont feel like there going to slip at all.

i honestly cant tell any difference between them and the bt21's i had before (other than these actually have some tread on them!)

good tyres are new tyres Wink

I wish. I've had qualifers on my CBR for about 2000 miles. I reckon that they have less than 1k left. My own fault for using the bike for commuting on straight roads. There is at least 3k left on the sides.

I've had maxxis tyres on previous bikes and had nothing to complain about. They do seem to suit heavier or touring bikes though.

Wow, they feel just like a dodgy 'sports touring' tyre!

I've had a dislike for them since having to race with them - then being told by people that I relatively trust that their road tyres suffered similar problems.

The original Diablo Corsas still do it for me and on the plus side they're mega cheap. About £140-145 a pair. They're not dual compound but last (the rear) a good 2,000-4,000miles depending on how hamfisted you are.

Until they stop selling them all together I dont see the need to change to another tyre.

Tyres are such a personal choice, and as long as you are confident with them then you'll get on with them.

Treat your R1 to some Pirelli Supercorsas or Metzeler Racetec Interacts (K2 or K3) Thumbs Up Very expensive new, but pick up some race scrubs (at £60-80 a pair barely used) and they won't cost you much (if any) more per mile than less sticky tyres.

More durable and/or 'wintery', the 2CTs or Sportec M5 do it for me.

I was going to go for these on the GSXR, but the dual compound bit of the IIIs sold me. I've done around 3000 miles and the rear is still just about alive. When you consider that while a lot of it is a slow commute, it regularly gets it's 0-60 and 0-100 'tested' (ie a decent few times per ride) as well as having done a trackday at Snetterton, I'm pretty pleased with how the dual compound has handled it.

You start to notice when you do 1000+ miles each month on a standard commute and the rear needs changing 4 times a year.

Pilot Power Pures, there the new version of the 2CT's and there awesome! Iv'e been on them for around 1500 miles and can't fault them. I went from Corsa III's to the Pure's and IMO there a better tyre. As much grip, if not more in the dry, much better in the wet, and they have a pointer profile so they have a much quicker turn in. Fantastic tyre, I can't rate them enough, loads of grip and feed back, you know exactly what the bikes doing all the time!

I know people say that 2CT's get greasy on track after a while as they get hotter, but apparently this is not happening with the Pure's, and Iv'e not noticed any of the bad bits that people mention with the 2CT's. Like I said, Iv'e had Diablo III's, had them for around 2500 miles, but I much prefer the Pure's, probably thanks to the much quicker turn in, and more grip in the wet, they also seem to get up to temp quicker as well!

Thats the wrong way round, rear should be SC2, and front should be SC1.

Good tyres, don't get caught out in the wet though.
