Are there any around Reading? Also how much do they cost?
Would like to see how many horses they shoved into the little AR.
Thanks ____________________ TT600 neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeowwww! |

There is one at PDQ;
PDQ Motorcycle Developments
Marshgate Trading Estate
Hitcham Road
Taplow
Berkshire
SL6 0LX
England
https://www.pdq1.co.uk/index.htm
And I believe there's a place in Wokingham or Woodley... called something like ridiculous horsepower bikes... Oh I can't remember...
Some of you guys went to a horsepower shootout where they won it.
Its gone. Its the early starts I tell you! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

I've remembered now, with the aid of Google.
Wokingham.
I'd imagine that they have a Dyno
https://www.bigccracing.com/welcome.asp
Thats the only two I know of - and they're not really in Reading as such. Hope this helps.
I'm sorry I haven't a clue how much they cost. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

Big CC do indeed have a dyno.
Why do you want to put the AR on a dyno though? Not being harsh, but I don't think they'll take you seriously. They didn't let Zim put his SR on there |

hi John,
just wondering what spec your AR125 is, if it is a full power (A) version or a 12bhp (B) restricted version. Many restricted AR125's have been partly de-restricted in various ways by previous owners, but i have seen performance bikes test figures for a full power A version, at 19.3bhp at the wheel. I think thats about 23bhp at the crank. A 12bhp AR would probably have around 10bhp at the wheel. It is difficult to de-restrict the AR sucessfully as nearly all the engine components, and specs were different on the 2 versions, probably because it doesn't have a power valve, so it cant be de-restricted that way, and also because kawasaki didn't want to ruin its performance and fuel economy by stuffing the inlet and exhaust with big washers, as is commonly done on alot of 12bhp 2 strokes. I saw a dynochart once for an AR that had had a stan stephens tune, and a Nikon pipe that peaked at 29,7bhp at the wheel, and with such a sharp powerband, that i bet it would make it interesting to say the least, to ride, especially with those thin forks, and tyres! |

Mine's a B6, as per siggy
I'm guessing it's partly de-restricted, as with my 97.5 main jet it does an indicated 60mph in around 8 seconds.
Dropped it to a 95 and it pulls away much easier, but the power isn't quite as sharp when it comes in.
I'd still like to see it on the dyno.
When I first had the bike it was a fair bit quicker again, but pulling off was so hard it'd stall constantly. Not sure what the differences were exactly, though it had no airbox at all before, and the carb needle had be soldered up to let more fuel in.
I know that it probably did seem a little faster than it was when it was newer to me, but the acceleration in second was very very quick. I think it takes around a second more to hit the redline in 2nd gear now. One other thing I noticed was that I was able to hit 70mph around half way down a short road by my house on my first real go on the bike, now using the entire road and revving the tits off it I can only hit 75 before I had to slow down for the lights.
Kind of wish it was that quick again, but at least I can pull away now ____________________ TT600 neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeowwww! |
