Some cosmologist seems to think that our universe could be inside a black hole, so that could mean that every black hole contains a universe and therefore we are inside a black hole in another universe which...inside...infinite...but then...wait... I've gone cross-eyed My head hurts.

This is the sort of science that lives in a strange place. While interesting, it doesn't really have much purpose.... Either way, in or out of a black hole, it's not like we can change it anyway so what does it matter?

Things that go into a black whole get more compressed until they reach a point called the singularity, a singular point at which everything is in. The human brain cannot understand this concept.

Rewind the universe so that it contracts rather than expands and the same thing happens. In this regard the singularity that originated the big bang is only replicated inside black wholes.

The media doesn't understand this concept just like no one else really does, except they need to write a story that people will want to read rather than sticking to provable facts, hence occasional stories where by the universe is inside a black whole or whatever.

The only theory i've heard that i like that connects the two is that onces the black wholes take over and everything in the universe is inside one, and they have all merged, you them have the all encompassing singularity similar to that which existed at the start of the universe, which may cause a big bang. This might just be the cycle of the universe(s) and might be an ongoing process.
