It only works if you spread it over 2 lines. It's mostly due to the way that the human eye works rather than the brain. When reading text the eye skips across words rather than scanning in every letter. The shape of the word is treated as a pattern that the brain recognises and as a result short words are recognised with minimal focusing meaning a repetition is missed as the eye flicks to the next word looking for important words such as nouns.

I always love that Thumbs Up

When I worked for RR we got a day long course about how the brain works and shit like that. I was all directed to the fact that most errors and accidents would occur on Night Shifts when the brain is trying to sleep.

They showed a video of 4 people standing in a circle bouncing a basketball. Our challenge was to see if we could concentrate hard enough and count how many times the ball was passed.
At the end the guy went round the table and asked for everybody's results. Most people said 45 (or whatever it was I forget the actual amount) and got it correct. Only myself and one of the other maintenance guys (everybody else was either a fitter or machinist) said that we lost count(we were about 5 out). When he asked why, we both said a guy in a gorilla outfit walked between them all. Que laughter and getting to to fuck off from everybody else.
When he rewound the tape right enough a gorilla walks in between them all halfway through the video.
His explanation was that for some reason the maintenance guys (electricians, millwrights, inst techs) are trained to think differently when we approach a job and tended not to focus on one specific task unlike the machinists and fitter who are following a strict set of instructions. This wasn't a hard and fast rule but it was only because he had noticed a pattern when doing this presentation at all the factories.

Incidentally most of the maint guys were left handed around 11 out of 14 of us. Plus where I work now an overwhelming majority of us are left handed compared to what the average would be Confused

And yet, cretins still cry about small spelling mistakes on the forum.
