My friend changed the clutch cable on his cb400 today, and since doing so the bike will not work properly.

It start kind of ok, go into gear, but when you let the clutch out, even with lots of revs it will stall. Unfortunatly drained the battery doing this and no way of charging it for a couple of days. What's the best way of going about it, and is it likely to be the clutch, or fuelling gone wrong somewhere when taking off the tank.

I think it seemed like when the clutch was fully released, it still wasn't fully engaged, so how would we go about adjusting this? starting at which end? the lever or engine? I've only ever done stuff to hydraulic clutches before.

I would've thought for such a major adjustment do it at the engine end of the cable. The lever end is for adjusting how far on the lever the clutch bites and whatnot.

HTH mate.
