I have actually attended a Church service this morning (friend's nipper's Christening). Christ, what a load of sanctimonious and hypocritical bollocks they spout.
The vicar spent an hour or so banging his gums about how this life only exists so that we can begin a relationship with God and that none of us should be materialistic, specifically mentioning us wanting large houses and flash cars. He said we had to strengthen our relationship with God in this life or he will not want to know us in the next yadda yadda yadda.
Then a parishioner got up to read a passage. As the Church was in the middle of a very small, posh village I'm certain her house would of been worth upwards of £500k .
I'm an Atheist by the way. All religion is complete poppycock IMO, and it only creates needless wars. Religion should of been banned centuries ago, when science answered the questions that only religion had the answers to. |

Well I won't join that one, then.
I'm Catholic, which is different than Christian.
Christian is just some bengschnurf generic description for assorted opera singers, cripples, snake-snoggers and high-falutin' bible-bashers.
Yer Catholics, right, they've always been just Catholic. I don't believe in any of it anyway, had it shoved down my throat for years by parents who never followed it, but thought that we should have a "proper" upbringing and schooling, so sent us to Catholic church and high school.
So you have a church that is as hypocritical as fuck, but who seem to have invented the sacrament of Confession: you can be naughty as you like, then go to confession, say a few Hail Mary's and jiggle your rosary beads for half an hour, and be cleansed again holy as they come, and good as gold again by Saturday evening, ready for playing up merry hell the rest of the week again. Works for me.
They shoulda defrocked them kiddy-fiddling priests, no question about it ... they fucked up, they have to pay the consequences.
But they won't go under. I ain't changing my religion because of it. I'm hardly the world's best catholic already.
I might genuinely turn Buddhist, but thats only so that I can sit around doing fuck all and having an excuse for it ("I'm meditating! Go away!") and also to maybe have a sword and chop people into bits like in Kill Bill. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Probably have to go with "Other", I believe there is more to this world, this life, this existence than we can ever comprehend, but whatever it is, nothing in any religious scripture comes close to it, so any fixed religion is horse bollocks, but saying I'm an out and out atheist... not so sure, I think when you contemplate these things long enough, you come to a sort of paradox wherein you see everything from the grand scale of the universe and it's incomprehendable size and all contained within, to the smaller scale of intricacies of DNA, the immune system, hell, even a whole living organism, and you think well, did all of this happen by pure chance....really?? At the same time, I don't believe any classical definition of God, ever watching, ever present, ever knowing, I just don't buy into the idea of a God of such description being concerned with the actions of mere mortals. So yeah, on one hand it's hard to think that everything in existence is purely chance, but feel there must be more to this existence....exactly what, who knows. My brief indulgences with potent psychedelics gives me enough food for thought to conclude for myself that we know relatively nothing in relation to the bigger picture, the grand scheme of things.

Made me laugh hard enough to nearly spill my drink.
I was brought up as christian, going to church every sunday from around the age of 5 with my mum. I got to the age of 12 when I started to take in my gameboy as I'd heard the same stories being told every week that I told my mum I didn't want to go anymore. Since then I've come to light about the whole religion thing and I can call myself an athiest. I don't believe that I will be saved by a guy who can walk on water and will come back to save me by turning water into wine and feeding 5000 with 5 cobs and a few fish fingers. Stories are there to entertain, the bible (afaik) has changed that many times that it is just a story book.
Sure religion help's some people find better meaning to their lives, but it does cause a lot of hassle and war's between countries or individuals just because they believe in an elephant with 8 arms instead of a 'prophet' that you cant draw a picture of otherwise you'll receive death threats and your first born will be sacrificed for the 'greater good'.
here is a great display of some beliefs:
