I've just been wandering about the various 2 stroke websites and found a link to a website that sells NOS systems for two stroke motorbikes. Has anyone ever seen one?

please dont tell me you want to put nitrous oxide on an NSR or something Confused

But to answer your question, nope never seen one.. I'd imagine there would need to be a hell of a lot of engine work done for it to be able to cope with even a fairly small amount of NOS.

Kev used to have NOS on one of his bikes, it wasn't a 2 smoke though.

I wouldn't even consider putting it on a small 2 smoke like the NSR.

I wasn't going to do it, I'm don't think I'm quite that stupid. I was just curious. ]

What about fitting it to a suzuki gamma 500? Wouldn't that be an interesting ride?

I've got pics of a rgv500 with NOS at home and it's probably the best bike I've ever laid my eyes on in one of my magazines.

In the end... you can usually get just get a more powerfull 2stroke engine rather than NOS... and have the reliability as well Smile.

I have actually seen in a friends magazine NOS for your moped, and that isnt a joke, its £650 for the whole system, i cant see why though

1.its a 50cc u may as well save the money for a 125 and not blow your engine

2.i'm sure its illegal

3.repeat the two top ones over and over

If I remember correctly, having a NOS system isn't illegal...

Although using it on the roads is.

Not sure though Razz.

Its perfectly legal to have it installed on your bike, set up, full, armed and ready to go, but you just can't use it. However race cans are also illegal Wink

Hi

Cannot think of a reason it would be illegal to use it on the road.

The speed you are doing after using it might well be illegal though!

All the best

Last weekend I was down at the waterfront (where all the rich people are in CT) and saw a very mint rgv500!
It was very cool considering most bikes here seem to be less sporty.

I'm not sure there's any such thing as an RGV 500. There's an RG 500 and an RGV 250, and it is a popular mod to put an RG500 engine in an RGV 250...

maybe I'm being a bit pedantic Smile

Only 2-stroke ive seen with NOS is a Yamaha Banshee... but thats an ATV, 350cc twin 2-stroke... also the banshee's ive seen with em are built for hill climbing or sand dragging... i dunno if i'd try it on a 125 though, especially not a stock one.

Just to clear the issue up, this is a mint modded RGV250 with an RG500 engine(which most people refer to as RGV500's):-

And this is an official works Suzuki RGV500 that won the 500cc GP world championship in the hands of Kenny Roberts. Wink

Hmmmm... the banshee engine is actually pretty heavily based on the rd350 engine (one of which I happen to own Smile ).
So maybe it would take to Nos okay then Smile.

Hi

There was an article years ago in PB about fitting NOS to a 350 power valve. Worked well enough. This the biggest problem was the ignition as the timing needed to be quite different to get the best from NOS.

There is also somewhere that scooter floating around with NOS built by a bike shop for a bit of fun.

No reason you cannot fit NOS to a 2 stroke, just remember that most of the engine components lives will be seriously shortened by trying to cope with 25%~50% more power than they were designed to handle.

All the best

Keith

Why'da want 2 put Nitrous oxide (hate ppl when they call it NOS) on an RG500? you can already tune them to silly power levels, and up to a point they are still very reliable for a 2smoke. The most powerful RG500 in the country has 145bhp r/w, so im guessing thats like 160ish bhp at the crank. The bloke who built it has an aluminium tank on the side of the bike that looks very much like a nitrous bottle, and it might well have been one originally, but he uses it for water injection into the pipes, to help increase the mid range power. (Like a tuned to the limit 500 has any!)
