My 2008 Kawasaki ER-6n won't start. The dash comes on and all the diagnostic lights are normal, but the starter motor hardly turns over. It's been sitting for about 2 months, so I think the battery's dead.

I have my other bike, so it should be possible to jump start the first one (I've tried bump starting it but no go).

I'm afraid this is a really basic question - but how exactly do I wire the two bikes together? Do I just attached the lead from the battery terminals of my Triumph to the Kawasaki (making sure the polarity is correct), and fire her up??

I could just go ahead and try it buy I really don't want to fry anything.

If you try jump starting it with jump leads, leave the good bike switched OFF and switch all the electrics on the dead bike ON before hooking it up, then try starting it and remove the jump leads asap - this way, if the working battery is stronger than the dead battery it shouldn't blow anything.

It worked when I jump started my mates 800 Intruder off of my 2L car battery and everything was fine.

Hope this is helpful

Mark

Thanks mate, will give that a try once I've bought some leads!

No it's not the kill switch - checked it and anyway the starter motor really sounds like it's not getting enough juice.
