Brakes on the front of my zx6r are seriously lacking stopping power.

-recently stripped calipers (new seals ect.)
-decent life left on ebc hh pads (not glazed)
-recently fitted hel braided lines
-stealth wavy discs

Any ideas why or how to improve this?

Change of fluid perhaps. The disc can sometimes glaze so it may be worth going over with some emery.

A problem I had was that I dent have full contact between the disc and pads when I put new pads on. I used it a few times and removed the pads and could easily see I was touching on maybe 10% of the pads. I chamfered the edges with a file and literally can stoppie now lol.

Apart from that you might want to check the master cylinder. Might need an overhaul

Master cylinder sounds most likely as I have little pressure to the lever

Stealth wavey discs are utter shyte. Ditch them. Get some OE ones or a decent reputable aftermarket set.

Then your stopping power will improve.

A radial master cylinder will help too!

Have you rode with them? But surely lack of pressure cant be blamed on shite discs?

I sent 3 sets back, they all warped within a few hundred miles and gave no braking.

The 4th set they sent me they wouldnt take back so I rode to their workshop and made a huge fuss untill I got a refund.

I know 2 dealers who wont take bike in part ex if they have stealth discs fitted. Do a google on them.

Crappy discs that warp isn't good, but they wouldn't result in low pressure at the lever.

You've most likely got air trapped in there somewhere still.

not entirely true. ... if the disc is warped, as the wheel / disc turns, the pads consequently pistons get pushed in. .. this results in more lever movement as you need to pump the pistons out.

however, if after a few pumps when static they don't stiffen up, then it is likely to be air in the system. ... there are plenty of tricks to get the stubborn bubbles out Thumbs Up

One of them being to tie your lever to the bars over night, this pushes the air to the top. Another is to use a syringe to pull the fluid through.

Perhaps it is your brake pads at fault.

As said above, you're better getting a different set of discs.

New fluid wouldn't go amiss and if that doesn't sort it, have a looksee at the master cylinder.

Fault finding is fun!
