Hi,

Haven't posted in here in a while.

Anyway, just a quick update on the 08 FZ1 I have.

I was close to selling the bike a couple months back, but then I couldn't make up my mind what to replace it with.

I guess this is down to the fact the bike lacks character but makes up for it with 'ease of use' and reliability. I don't usually waste my time or money on modding things, usually just upgrade to something faster or better in some way or another depending on my mood.

So, instead of putting £1.5k-2k towards some sort of part-ex, I decided to do some mild tweaks to the FZ1.

Previously, I was contempt with the bike in standard specification. I got bored one day and modified the manifold to run without the cat and a de-cluttered airbox...all on a rainy Sunday afternoon during the winter.

The bike went in for a base dyno run a couple days before TT. One of the runs was to see top speed, the other two were to work out the AFR and HPs. These came back rather good.

My estimated HP was around 135hpatw, this is the figure thrown around the web. The base dyno result came back with 142hp atw. So far so impressed.

Anyway got carried away and decided to go the whole hog. And opted for a PCIII, K&N Filter, Leovince GP Pro Slip-on and a custom map on the PCIII. The map's set-up to run on Vpower and without the baffle. ASBO anyone? Twisted Evil

Now you've made it go quicker, how about properly setting up the suspension to suit your weight/riding style?

Good progress so far, but don't forget to upgrade the rest of the bike, all power, while fun, is wasted on stock brakes and suspension.

Cheers for the advice.

Suspension was setup sometime ago, to improve on that I'd have to go K-tech internals etc. Besides don't think I can ride anywhere near the bike's ultimate ability either way!

The mods are more for improving rideability (standard map was shit) and to add abit of character. Think I've succeeded in doing what I wanted.

Satisfied with the brakes so far. Will be upgrading the lines to braided HELs, with new pads (any suggestions?), black ASV levers and fluid when it goes in for service this winter.

Might go as far as getting some black Gilles rear sets to finish it off.

Cheers

Cheers for the compliments guys.

This post stands out!

Tail tidy, sooo many people say get a tail tidy etc etc, I've seend the FZ1 with a tailtidy and it really doesn't do much for me sadly! I much prefer the standard setup in that regards! Embarassed
