Okay my aprilia rally wont accelerate fully, After 4 months of buying new parts for it i decided to get an engine, The new engine that the seller said worked, did not and the problem still remains... I can start the bike easily and it will tick over fine but when i rev it so high it just cancels and cuts out, so far iv gotten a new engine, exhaust, carb, air filter, jet, rollers, clutch springs, suppressor caps... i have switched my CDI unit to see if that fixes it and it has not.. I have switched ignition coil's and that has still not fixed the problem.. Any Ideas?

Does this bike have a rev limiter?

Money on Wrong Jets on carb causing lean running which is exactly what happened to my SR-50. Idles, but when giving it throttle it wants to die, test rode it, have to give throttle very slow or it will die in traffic and take ages to start it back up.

all of this is because of not doing the derestriction correctly.

Piaggio motor with dellorto carb. Not at home now, couldn't look up the haynes manual for scooters now.
An upjet cured the problem completely. Sold the SR-50 now, can't remember the correct main jet numbers which I believe is 60. will be different for different engines or different carbs

I second this. Had similar problems from either dirty carb or wrong jet sizes.

Thanks for the responses, i have just put a new jet in the carb 10 sizes larger than my standard one and still having the same problem, hot or cold engine the bike will not rev at all! , people say they had to rev to keep going in traffic but this bike will not do more than 5mph in its current state Neutral today i have had the cylinder head off and the piston out, cleaned all the piston and checked the piston rings are all fine and put it back together .. The problem still remains Sad starting and idle'ing is perfect but any possible sign of acceleration is rejected and the bike stalls
