Do car drivers every so often get together and say: "Let's drive with our eyes closed!"?

Heading to Bassetts on the Tuesday just gone, nearly got knocked off from the LHS by a bendi bus, the RHS by some woman with kids in the back of her car, someone had one and lost their bike, and two other people that stopped had nearly had the same.

I wish people would open their god damn eyes!

Well today I was exiting a busy A road, down the slip road two lanes, I was entering the right lane and a van started to drift over the centre line infront of me, then looked at me backed back over then started again maybe thinking I was letting him in, so I just accelerated to clear him pretty much.

(Pretty much because he didnt use the mirror to move over then did at the last minute)

No offence mate but:

You were riding on a Sunday
You posted this in 'New Bikers' section.

Take it on the chin and learn from it. You are responsible for your own life so ride accordingly. You think that because someone else did something wrong, that'll make a difference if you're dead? I think not. Ride and react accordingly.

Ever wondered what it would be like to have a harry potter invisability cloak? Get on a bike and find out.

I assume i am invisible at all times, that ever car will pull out without seeing me, that every fucker will carve up the roundabout with me on the inside etc. Annoying, but at least i'm still alive Razz

Did you not know?

Every Sunday is national 'Drive Like A C*nt Day'. It is every englishman's right to get the jalopy out on a sunday, put on a sunday driving hat, dust down the wife, plonk her in the passenger seat and weave about on Her majesty's highway for a few pleasant hours.

It's beautiful, I'm fillin up here Sad

If you were just entering the right lane as he was, then you would not have been in his mirror.
With any Van, lorry or bus. If you cannot see the driver in his mirror. Or even see the mirror then how the hell can they see you.
Same goes for a car, if you cannot see the drivers face in a mirror then they cannot see you.
On my car I can lose a car in the bilind spot, so a bike is easy to lose for a very long time......
Thankfull as a bike rider I still do lifesavers while driving the car.... Not something you see many drivers do....

Down side of a bendy bus or artic and there is a corner, then get out of the way.....
Remember backing off and letting them out is often the best option, if you try to blast passed and they still carry on, who is going ot hit the deck.... Rolling Eyes

Don't always blame the other driver, look at yourself and YOUR road position....

He was in the left, saw him in his mirror he assumed it was clear to the right then when he looked (over the centre line he saw me looked pretty shocked) then went back in, then im guessing thought i might be letting him go so looked like he was hesiating to do it again.

My road position was in the centre, about 5ft behind him in the right lane and him in the left Wink
