Keeping the bike in a shed

Hello, been some time since I've posted on BCF.

I've moved into a new house with a garden and would like to keep my bike at my own house now (It's been in my mums garage for 3 years)

The garden is a fair size with the perfect spot for a shed of about 8x6.
Do any of you guys keep your bike in a shed? I'm looking at about £300-£400 for a decent shed of that size new.
Any better solutions? Even a shelter with a few ground anchors would be fine I think but what's the best way to go about this?

I only have a small garden so i went with a 8x6.
Get/build the biggest one you can, dig a ground anchor in and build over it.

Fit a security light overlooking the shed. Don't bother with expensive padlocks as most wooden sheds are easy peasy to break into.

I could've/should've built my own and used better materials. Went for the easy cost option. I painted on wood treatment before i assembled it.

You'll have to factor in a base for the shed to sit on. As you can see i scrimped and built it on limestone chippings Smile

(The ground is firm and water drains away fine.)

If my pockets were bigger i would've laid a concrete base and sourced some good thick shiplap timber.

My economy shed is fit for purpose, but only just.
Google search the cheapest 8x6 economy shed and that's the one i went for...The one with double doors of course.

A a good second hand propper built shiplap shed will be better than the cheap new ones ,look in local ad papers , stronger will last loads longer & you can often get them a lot cheaper if you take them apart yourself . Got mine free owner just wanted rid 10x6 & still good for many years .

Try looking for a 'workshop' rather than a 'shed'. They tend to be much sturdier with none of that chipboard shite to be seen.

I think I'll focus the security on securing the bike to a ground anchor or two (I have an alarm on the bike too) and the structure of the shed purely for weather protection.

£200 delivered which should do the job, the cheap wooden sheds don't look like they would hold up for too long, or maybe the same could be said about the metal ones? I'm not sure.

I've kept my bike in an 8x6 shed for 3 years with no problems, although the shed base had to be reinforced to deal with the weight of my bike. Laughing

Ive got 2 ground anchors bolted to my shed base which is 3x2 council slabs cemented together so its fairly sturdy.
Whatever size you think you want, go one bigger. I cant hardly do any work on my bike in the shed due to the wife moving other shit into it.... Rolling Eyes
