zx6r gearing

hi. i was pondering over the thought of changing the sprockets on my 2000 zx6r.

i was going to sell the bike and get something else but i dont think i can afford it and i do quite like the bike.

im wanting more acceleration for the fun factor and wheelies e.c.t. im not bothered about the top end speed being affected at all because i was thinking of getting a supermoto if i sold my zx6r anyway.

I changed my J model zx6 to a 14t front sprocket instead of the 15t standard.

Gave it alot more low down punch and the top end improved as its able to rev out in 6th.

It will also wheelie in first gear, just by holding the throttle open.

hi cheers for that. wouldnt you go any lower on the front? and would you recomend doing anything to the rear sprocket? or just the 14t front?

+2/-2 will give you a very noticeable difference, but may slightly reduce top speed.

And because 6r's of that age are sprocket driven speedos, will confuse the speedo, with -1 its about 10% difference in reading

when your change the gearing i recommend you get a speedo healer.

My speedo healer is made by a company called healtec, they are on ebay or you can oder through Tim Blakemore racing on 0117 904 2216

hi yeah thats a good idea on the speedo healer. i never thought of this. will down gearing make the speedo read faster or slower?

g- what do you mean by +2/-2 ? +2 on the back and -2 on the front?
