Hi considering riding down to the south of france next week. Would be interested to hear any ideas for places or areas to stay at?
Was looking at the cap d'agde region of languedoc-rousillon, would like somewhere not too spoilt and relatively wild close to beaches etc but with some normal facilities and small towns close by. Having looked at areas it sounds to me as if it'd be a good place to go and just be lazy for a week in the sun, not too commercialised.
Any ideas about this area? Would be looking to camp mainly while I'm there and just relax a bit using the bike locally to get around.
Want to get down to the med but not spend too much time travelling, seems as if this would be convenient and relatively cheap (about 700 miles for me.)

Not much help really as I've never ridden down to France, but I'd suggest that France in August is bonkers, as most of the French take their annual leave then as well as lots of other Europeans, so most places are very busy and or booked up.

Confused

France is nuts in August...

I reckon you should burn down to Castellane, and stay at the camesite just outside town, it is an N85 ride down to the beaches and Nice. With the alps on one side and some nice gorges on the other side.

Or a town aix les bains, its a lake with a beach at the base bog all people there.

I camped around there somewhere (maybe a bit to the east), as it was my Birthday that day, had an idealised view of camping on a cliff overlooking the sea.
Reality was I had a load of ground to cover so just stopped in a random bit of woods down a lane - I had come from Torino that morning, to the coast at Savona then along the coast road, which was slow and disappointing.
It was slightly spoilt by the old vodka bottle from whoever had used that little clearing last, but otherwise was appropriately 'wild' Smile.

Err, not much help, probably Smile.
