 |
|
Hi guys.
I was wondering whether a front mudguard extender is a worthwhile purchase to give the oil cooler, radiator etc a bit more protection in terms of salt and dirt. It would be for a zzr600e that gets used regularly and through winter.
I know they're only 17 quid, but I don't really have 17 quid to throw away on something that's worthless.
Thanks for any advice on the matter. |

It makes your mudguard longer, it must work surely.
You have a month or two before the shit weather comes (unless you live in Wales and it never went away) £8.50 saved a month will get you one by October if money is that tight. (That's actually not meant to be sarcasm). |

Had a "fender extender" on the old GPZ, and yes it helped a fair amount.
I'm seriously considering getting one for the Bandit too before the worst of the winter starts Yes its worth getting one IMO ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

Save your £17 and find some plastic at home to make one.
In true Blue Peter style, a empty oil bottle is good and you can make it a bit longer for even better protection ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

Hi
Yes they will work well, i made my own from a £1 black bucket from asda, just cut a large square out then make a template out of cardboard and score the template into plastic and then cut with heavy duty scissors or stanley knife.
Then you can use 1200 wet an dry to smooth the edges up, drill tidy but small holes into it x2 and the same on the mudguard and attach with stainless roundhead nut an bolt, hex type pref, and not to big.
This works great i did it on my YBR and i dont get shit thrown up the front of the engine or exhaust or my legs, i flared mine slghtly so it was wider at the bottom.
Cost was £1 plus some small bolts i had (actually small pc screws in chrome with nuts that fit, that and about 1.5 hours of time.
