If this ISN'T SHOW AND TELL, then I don't know what is!

Basically showing you about all my bike gear

No wonder I'm paying ridiculous money for my student loan. Thank god I wasn't paying the £RRP for all of that!

Virginal kneesliders are epic FAIL however!

ok so fair enough if you want to own that many sets of bikewear.

personally i own 1 set. because i can only wear one set at a time.

i will admit to having 2 pairs of gloves. summer and winter

and i got 2 lids only because i take the stepdaughter out and about at times

My pillions safety is my main priority Razz...

Yes it is VERY gay but I got bored and I was doing a clearout in the garage whilst trying to find a soldering iron to wire in some new pickups into my guitar and found my spare lids and suit.

Mind you, got a mate who works at Metropolis in vauxhall that has a ridiculous amount of lids.. I didn't realise that I'd have a collection of alpinestars after 5 years of being at uni.

Good thread, shame about the haters. Middle Finger
Why is it that every time we have an interesting BIKE related thread on this forum people have to come in with the arsey remarks..
Sorry if its just banter but that's exactly what I've become used to here.

You have some nice kit there Tot, and its well looked after (but we already knew that Razz)
Why are you so keen on A* though? I mean yes it's nice but a bit of variation doesn't hurt, Alpines aren't even my first choice personally.

Also, what model are the Shoei Lids and how do they compare to the Corsair?
I only ask because for the past few years I've been wearing a Condor, and briefly a Quantum II..
But I have recently tried on a Shoei X1100 and was surprised that it really seemed right in the fit.. and I haven't tried a Shoei that fit that snug in a while.

I like the TOT tags, where/ how were they done?

TOT tags - Motrax fabric letters

They're 99p per letter and have a faux leather look. Very adhesive and leather friendly. I got mine from infinity motorcycles although just type in fabric letters by motrax onto ebay and they might do some bargains.

I think the whole alpinestars thing started off because I used to be a fan of Haga when he was in his "fat-jap" days. Unsurprisingly he was endorsed by alpinestars and arai back then.

I suppose the whole infatuation with alpinestars started off with that grey SMX jacket. I originally wanted to get an arlenness jacket off ebay back in 2005 BUT my last minute snipe failed. 1 hour later, i saw an alpinestar jacket being sold and put a silly bid of 110 and won it! The rest is history.

TO be fair though, the race suits are pretty comfortable and because I get them for pretty damn cheap (black on was brand new), I haven't tried to switch brands. I always try to get their top of the range or 2nd tier kit but at the same price of their mid range stuff.

Shoei and Arai, both are good in their own right. Arai is a LOT lighter but noisier. I've snapped 2 sets of sidepods due to constant use and swapping visors and neglect over winter (failure to lube the base plates). Shoei XR1100 has better peripheral vision due to the larger eye port BUT it is physically larger than the Corsair. Despite the sleek look of the shoeis, they do a good job of venting but nowhere near as effective as the arai for the front. I've switched back to the Corsair because you can modulate the mouth vent better than the shoeis. Needless to say, they all fit me well but Arai wins hands down.

With gloves, I love my Gp pros but they get sweaty because of the kevlar! Supple, light and comfortable but I've found that the GP plus held the test of time better.

It makes sense, it's easy to stick with a brand once you gain confidence in their products and they are of course a good un.

Shoei and Arai....

Wow that's a good run down.. I've found that one of the biggest bugs with Arai lids is after a good deal of use the visor just doesn't
want to stay open and will shut at anything above pootling speeds, which I can find extremely irritating.
That's about the only way in which I can fault it though,
The Condor's ventilation leaves abit (and not much) to be desired but only when I'm wearing my Knox Cold-Killers tube.

I've knocked it numerous times and even fallen off the back of the CD and hit my head, it's up for replacement but I'm forced to hold onto it, however it's stood its test of abuse well.
I haven't had a problem with the pods myself,
I broke one as a result of dropping the lid so just swapped the pods and mech from the Quantum II, sorted.

I'm still wearing GP plus, they're supremely comfortable but they have started to wear badly..
There are holes on the fingertips of my index and middle finger and when the gloves get drenched the dye seeps onto my skin.
Having said this all my kit gets year round abuse and I'm never easy on it.. SO I suppose it's done well.

Ahh when it comes to luggage, Kriega all the way! It's pretty damn waterproof and I'm happy with how it performed in torrential downpours! Dead handy if you have sensitive electronics. 10 year waterproof guarantee is bang on.

Shinya had some of the best lid designs ever, way cooler than Nori's Smile Got to agree with you on the quality of the Astars suits, I've got the smx air flow jacket and the fit is absolutely sublime, my handmade BKS stuff would certainly crash better but the Astars is definitely more comfortable Thumbs Up

You can also never have enough gloves, 4 pairs here, (all astars too heh ) Laughing

Once the Sakura RX-GP gets cheap enough to buy, I'll get it! People have art collections, but I MAY well want to start my Aldo Drudi replica collection.

Decided to wear the shoei again today and they are MASSIVE compared to the Arai! Makes my head look disproportionally big!

You stopped using your boots cause the zip came off? I pulled the zip of my Sidis and I just use a paperclip instead! At school my rucksacks always used to break cause I hated wearing my blazer and always used to stuff it in so i was well used to paperclips as zip fixing mechanisms by the end of that and fixing boots with a paperclip seemed second nature! Give it a go Wink Unless there's a hole in the actual zip bit rather than the bit that pulls it breaking off, which seems to happen more often!
