rough idle on start up Kwak GPZ400R

I certainly don't go on my bike as much as i would like but when i do it was a rough idle when started.If i leave it for a while it seems to clear itself or option 2 is jump on and ride it. when i do this it runs rough again,open the throttle and it's rough until the end of my road say 200 meters then it sorts it self out and is fine afterwards even when i park up for hours.
I'm putting it down to a carb problem possibly float hight but as the carbs are a bitch to put back on i,m tempted to just leave it as it's not a major problem for me but i'm thinking of getting rid and would like to sort it for the new owner.
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and what there solution was.
Any help is always gratefully recieved.
