I'm tempted for one of these, think its a good direction to go - naked but with grunt.

So, anyone have/had one ? Anything i should look out for?

Not sure about the bike, but naked and grunt makes me think of the MT01, for some reason I like them

I had one. Fantastic bike. Can be shit on fuel if hammered. Top heavy, If the twin shocks are worn it rides like a jelly but better than a bandit. Only a five speed box but early ZZR motors fit and have a six speed. Storage unders seat is big. Six tins of beer big so all your bike lock stuff will get in ho problem. Look at the radiator for rust as they are expensive, get a cover for the radiator. Join this forum for tips and cheap parts.

I have one and have put about 25,000 miles on it in all weathers.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/serenaur/IMG_2523.jpg

Love it to bits, not had a hankering for another bike since I got it over 2 years ago. Fantastic motor, handles fine (not really ridden any sports bikes for any length of time properly to compare though) and looks great too. 1888 pretty much covered the basics but feel free to PM me if you want any in depth info.

The https://www.zrxocboard.com/ has a wealth of info but you need to make 20 posts before much of the good stuff opens up and they're quite old fashioned forum users there, don't expect a warm welcome unless you introduce yourself and give them a bit of a life story first Laughing

I'm sure we have this discussion every time I post a picture of my bike, everyone knows that red is faster than green!

There's usually plenty of 11's around that price (£1900) so if you do end up going up to that price don't just plump for the first one you see, make sure you check a few out.

Seems like sensible mods on that one (loads of owners seem to mod them, some get carried away with the bling so beware anodised everything types!) but I'm not sure on the swingarm change, it's not a common mod so not sure what he was trying to achieve there. Also, it's the wrong colour Wink

Why?

The Zs were best in red! Looks like my old GPZ550 after a long period of steroid abuse.

Vee

Forgot to say, dont expect a centre stand and my one went through left hand for seals, i was told this is due to leaving wheel facing same direction when i lock it up in the side stand. Dont know if that was bull shit but it was left had all the time that went.

Oh by the way. I sold mine for 900 quid, it was a 99 model with less miles than the one you were looking at. You will get a minted one for around 1500 if you look around and get the purple one, Red looks cheap and green is just a kawasaki willy waving colour Very Happy

Lolz!

Purple is not a colour for motorcycles, it's a colour for chubby goth chicks to wear! (on the upside, in low light Kawasaki's 'Midnight Purple' almost looks black).

I've got a 12 (which is pretty close to the 11 in most respects) and I love it. Very Happy

I've only put a couple of thousand on it, but I honestly can't think of anything I'd rather ride at the moment. Ok, it's bloody heavy particularly with a full tank, but having had a Blackbird yourself that won't bother you much, and the wide bars make turning it pretty easy despite it's bulk.

Mine came with the eccentrics flipped, a fairly common 10 minute mod to quicken the steering, but it still feels stable when upright so I'll leave it... it does make it a bit taller though. ZRXOC has lots of info, and you can read the FAQ before making the 20 posts mentioned above, which has all the common niggles, but there's not really any common major issues. Lots of easy tuning info on there too.

I would have been happy with either the GPz red or the Lawson, but ended up with the Lawson. Pics don't do the paint justice, the green is proper 70's metalflake stylee. The plain colours just dont do the shape of the bike justice IMO.

Stop... Being stupid and buy the right colour?

Green... With envy at getting the wrong colour?

Ha ha, I could go on forever Wink

Think yours is looking in a whole lot better condition than mine even with more than double the mileage! I guess that's what 2 Welsh winters and not much maintenance do for you though Sad

Now I see they only have 98 bhp, haven't seen torque figures so if anyone knows...

How are they on the power? I missed the 'grunt' with the str3 and hornet, and want the sort of pulling power from my '12 and bird, top speed isn't of concern- accelerations my preference.

Im sure that the ZRX11 has more than 98bhp. The later 12's (1164cc) were 122bhp claimed at the crank. It's a heavily de-tuned ZZR1200 engine, and they had 162bhp!

Have heard that a full 4-1 performance system and re-jetting the carbs and a better air filter add's around 18-20bhp more to the already strong grunty power output of these big Kwak beasts!

As for the Bandit, well they are such a girls bike compared to one of these big MOFO's! Laughing

The 1100 is around 100bhp stock but you can easily get it to 110bhp with an exhaust system and then if you put ZZR1100 cams (drop straight in, all you need to do is check the valve clearances afterwards), pod air filters and sort the jets (which can be done for £300 all in) you can easily achieve figures of 130bhp+ depending on how good your dyno man is.

Torque is around 75ft/lbs stock which converts to arm ripping acceleration. Mine will lift the front wheel on power in first and second, I've got a full exhaust system and standard gearing with no other engine mods.

I've always seen Red/black or dark grey and green/white/blue to be equally cool as colours for any big mean Ninja! I love the colour scheme of the H1/H2 ZXR750's but i couldn't call it between the red and the green versions, they are both so cool!

Unlike Suzuki and Honda, Kawasaki's have more than one classic and ultra cool set of colours that symbolise thier machines.

I think Blue/white is the only real classic Suzuki colour scheme for their road bikes, and for Honda only Red/white and Rothmans colours are really ultra cool. Repsol replica's had a moment, but they have been over done now and lost some cool points IMO!

The ZRX11/12 have a ZZR11 based motor, with a sidedraught head, very similar to the GPz1100E. They all go back via the ZX10 (the old one, not the ZX10R), GPz1000RX to the GPz900r.

My GPz1100E was about 105 out of the box. When I replaced the camshafts, Kawasaki seem to make theirs out of cheese for the watercooled bikes, I couldnt find GPz ones so ZZR ones got fitted. It then hit 125 or so.

Apart from the vastly superior looks, does the ZRX do anything better than a Bandit 12?
