Helmet laws in France

My mates just brought a new helmet, and it comes with reflectors for when youre riding in France, as it's apparently a legal requirement. Any one know if it is?

I've just had a quick search on the internet and I haven't found anything saying that. The reflectors are always good for being visible on the road, however.

The only thing I could find was that reflective jackets are required for non-motorcycle vehicles, in case of a breakdown/accident, but for motorcycles these aren't required.

It is a legal requirement but something which is not enforced, I've been on 4 French trips now and the reflectors stayed in the packaging.
