I wouldn't worry about how much the damper itself costs to fix if it breaks, but how many bones would you break if it stopped working mid corner and managed to lock in position. Shocked
I am sure that Honda engineers/technicians will have prooved the thing to be reliable though.

Take it these are the electronic dampers (not looked at the link), if so I expect they will be designed to "fail safe".

In that if it goes tits up it wont lock and will just act like it isn't there. At least thats what I would hope from a safety engineers point of view.

These dampers still use oil, so presumably the worst that could happen is that it goes onto the equivalent of maximum setting.. which does make the steering pretty hard to turn when going slowly, but isn't really an issue when going fast, because very little steering input is required.

What happens if there's a leak? I suppose its only about as likely as with a 'normal' steering damper but Honda seems to imply the handling relies on this electronic damper...

Oil leak, or valve breaks, then:

I'd still buy the new blade if I had the money though. Smile

as long as I could keep my Triumph...

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
