bike starts just and wont rev

hi i brought a superbyke rmx 125 (2008) of ebay last week and was told it was a non runner due to no spark i found out that the side stand wasn't touching the cut off switch and that some one had swapped some cables round in the CDI (black box) with that sorted i had spark. (yay)
Now the problem i'm having is when i can get the bike to start it wont rev up and it pops and back fires (fun) so i contacted the lad who i brought it off to find out whats was goin off he told me the engine had been rebuilt due to a bent valve but it should be fine.
has anyone got an idea of where to start looking for the problem? (getting annoyed) thanx

backfires are timing issues so that means the cdi ain't right,try and get a new one and then try it again

+ its a chinese bike so don't expect miracles

hmmm the cdi is new i replaced it as there was no spark when i brought the bike, do you think the the timing in the engine could be wrong?

check your timing marks, cus he said the engine had been rebuilt. I suspect a tooth out(or more) on the timing chain. Superbykes are one of the better chinese brands(cough)

Hi there.

If the engine has just been re built the timing might not have been set.
