Also please notice:

These belong in the Exchange & Mart area, please post them there.

On the incredibly small chance your post was genuine.
I suggest you get a lot more adds before you start charging £10.
There's a much better selection of bikes for sale on here, and it's just a comunity not a specific site.

Do you guarentee this service btw? Razz
And it is very nice that you offer colour photos... glad you're not one of those old fashioned websites only in black and white Razz

Oh... and welcome to the forum by the way Very Happy.

You may also want to run a spell check on some of the text on your site -

spamming site wrote:
BUYERS CAN SEE YOUR BIKE ON-LINE WHEN EVER THEY WISH.

Last time I looked 'whenever' was one word.

spamming site wrote:
then fil in the pay now payment details

Fill has two Ls in it.

spamming site wrote:
WHY NOT ADVERTISE YOUR BIKE FOR ONLY £10 INCLUDING PHOTO

Umm, because I actually maintain some faint hope of selling my bike? I wouldn't want it to get lost in your massive catalogue. Laughing If you are trying to start a site you need to be offering free advertising and it's stupid for you to spread the five bikes you have over like 15 pages, just makes the site look empty.

So how many unique visitors does your site get? How many people will see my ad for my £10? How can you say that I'll get calls about it the first day I post it?

£15.00 for 2 weeks on bike trader, and i sold the bike withing hours.

Your site has very little content, free ads is the way to go, then £2.50 (ish) for priority ads or some shit like that, then when you progress start charging.

Erm, Biketrader costs £24 for two weeks including the website and the magazine.

No one actually buys from the Biketrader website AFAIK, they all go out and buy the magazine... the Biketrader adverts are nearly always out of date AFAIK.

Charge £1 not £10. Especially for a site with such a huge catalogue of bikes for sale! You don't need to charge a tenner, charge a quid and you'll soon be a millionaire! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Lets just see how many people pay it.

You're in a catch 22 because no one will advertise until you'e got an inventory. You won't get an inventory until people advertise! Laughing

Impressed that you stuck around to reply.

I am not aware of any other interent only sites that charge.
There are two main places (MCN and biketrader) that charge to sell bikes. These have an enormous distribution and can justify charging because they are selling more than just bandwidth.

As I mentioned, even here, which is a relatively small site is currently better for selling bikes.
Place like adtrader and loot are national papers that offer free advertising. They may even offer free photos (though not colour Smile ).
There are various other, much bigger forums, such as visor down that are much more appropriate.

Out of interest... do you pay for your site design?

Can you prove that? You'll have to watch out, autotrader is a big company, That could be considered libel. So is Emap.
Lord Emap can afford to sue you with the change thats down the back of his sofa!

How come their mag is in every newsagent or supermarket?

I've never heard of your site until today.

Please. Its not worth getting into an argument on here about it, especially with 'facts' that could be considered for legal action Shocked !

Actually they're all audited by a company called ABCE. The same company that audit's website traffic so you can prove you're not lying to your advertisers about your page impressions.

It's a long and painful process. And extremely accurate.

Maybe they do lie about circulation, maybe they don't.

I know they haven't worked for everyone, but biketrader did for me.

It also seems a bit cheeky to only advertise the bikes for 28 days when it's a purely online service.

Also.. from what I can see, your site's been up for at least 10 ten days and has had an average of, to be kind, say 80 unique views a day. That is, in internet terms, a very low amount to justify charging £10 for.

Oh, and a suggestion... get your self listed on some search engines.

Not only does searching for 'buy bikes' not return any results, but searching for 'bikebuyers' doesn't produce your site.
Are you intending to attract people to your site by other means than spam?

I've sold 2 bikes on biketrader, the first one took 4 days and the second took 10 days.

I got about 30-40% more than they were worth both times.

Oh and this was back when they did the special offer, where you got 2 weeks for £15 on the website.

I tried a google search, couldn't find your site at all, let alone on the first page.

You're right after this discussion I will clearly remember the name of your site, as a place NOT to sell a motorcycle. Why will anyone pay £10 to advertise a bike somewhere that is less likely to sell a bike than a free site. Do a google search and you will find there are many, many sites offering the same service as you, but for free.

research shows that the majority of people wont search through lists of pages to find something for free most just want it on a plate easy to find as for this forum it has made interesting reading all i can say is watch the site as we are going to become an alternative choice to the two top magazines as the past has shown only one person benefits from competition thats the customer and as long as the other services keep upsetting and charging high prices there will be a place for bikebuyers.co.uk

ukbiker... dude.

I think you're pissing in the wind here mate. We really aren't trying to rain on your parade. Obviously you think that this is a cracking idea for a business. Personally, I think you've backed a lame horse, especially as AFAIK you've invested in web design (You could have learned it for yourself look at the professional quality that Dusty' site has (Alex, I can't believe I just said that either!)

Also since when as an E business ever made a profit? Couple with the fact that there are many free, greater circulated sites around...

Well all I can say is good luck. you're gonna need it!

how many more turns of phrase can I add in a post?

*edit*
Oh and ukbiker... full stops at the end of sentences are quite useful Wink
