Okay guys, i feel retarded as hell right now.

Just bought a compression gauge to see what's wrong with my GPZ, and i can't for the life of me figure out how it works.

It's got the wee release bit so you can reset the needle next to the actual reading bit, and then a long hose witha valve, and loads of connectors.

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190373995171&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

That's it.

i've tried threading it into the spark plug hole, and turning it over, but i don't get a reading.

Someone help me Sad

Cheers
Dunc

Should just screw into the spark plug hole, making it air tight, then turn it over on the starter.

If there is no reading, try a little oil down the plug hole to see if it reads any better then.

Not sure what you mean by the wee release bit - is it open and the air is escaping here?

This any good, can't view it at work

Hi

Normally screw in and then crank over on full throttle. Normally the thread has a rubber O ring to help seal it so you don't need to screw it in too tight.

All the best

Keith

I have the same one. Screw the adaptor in with the o ring as mentioned to make it air tight. Push on the hose and crank it over at open throttle. There is a pressure release at the base of the gauge which would be the first place to check for leaking. Maybe the gauge is knackered. If you turn it over a few times then press the pressure release and nothing comes out then there is no pressure. Either a leak in the hose or guage or your engine needs a rebuild. Try it in all cylinders and compare. Might need to replace the kit if you can't sort it out

Open the throttle and then try.
