If you've ever owned or just worn them, what's your verdict? i.e. warmth, waterproof, durability?

Which ones? They do cheap and expensive - you can't generalise.

I've got a Craig II jacket (the trousers don't fit me at the mo ) and I love it.

Not too hot in summer thanks to half-decent vents and lining, and pretty waterproof for my 9 mile commute. Lots of pockets - although only the inner ones are waterproof.

I like the odd denim look it has too - although I think it may have been discontinued. I'll certainly be trying out one of their other jackets when I next need one.

Depends on price really. Not worked there for over 2 years now, but two options were Sheltex / Gortex - the later beng more expensive but more waterproof.
sheltex stuff is waterproof to some extent. You need to look after it IE: nicwax a fair bit.
Had a few customers complain that there £90 sheltex leaked after a few days in the rain - altho it was pretty much explained that you need to look after it more with nicwax.
I never brought gortex stuff - Cant spend that ammount of money for the ammount i ride in the rain if im honest.
Cheap over coat for the odd shower did more justice to my pay packet whilst working there

My sheltex jacket doesn't really leak - when it does, it's through the vents. It's certainly no worse than gortex jackets I've had before - apart from my awesome North Face jackets which don't leak a drop.

My sheltex jacket has never leaked 18 months of daily all weather riding. Its kept proofed by the use of Grangers waterproofing mostly Fabsil, imo much better than nikwax on bike gear due to high silicone content.

My trousers and jacket are both sheltex, the trousers are 2 and a half years old and have never leaked apart from through the hole I put in the knee coming off. The jacket was given as an xmas pressie last Christmas so its done the worst part of the winter and all this rainy crap we've been having recently, again it's never really leaked apart from as mr james says a little bit through the arm vents.

The trouser pockets aren't water proof, as far as I know all my jacket ones are although I don't really use the jacket ones unless I'm doing big journeys or it is really pissing it down, when I use the inside ones.

Protection wise in the off that put the hole in the knee I was completely fine, although I wouldn't want to come off on the same side again. The jacket feels to be made out of a tougher textile, but I haven't tested that out yet

Warmth wise I have nothing to compare them to apart from a cheap textile jacket I had from when I was 16 and some 10 year old leaky handed down trousers, the HG stuff is leagues ahead of that, but it's not really a fair comparison Through last winter I don't think I ever put a 2nd pair of trousers on under the textiles, although I did end up with about 4 tops on under the jacket. Also I had plastic waterproofs on over the top if it makes any difference to warmth? They were for the sake of the work floor and not because I was worried about leaks just so you know.

Also I have never used a water proofing product.

Any complaints? Not really, I get the odd drip of water down the neck in extremely bad rain but that would happen in most stuff I would imagine.

Good things? They zip together even though they are clearly from different different years/styles of stock.

Would give HG gear a good 7/10, loosing points for winter warmth and the pretty bad hole in the knee considering I was doing less than 40 when I came off.

My HG jacket, was 16 quid of ebay .... well made, chunky zips, loadsa pockets, seems waterproof ... ...

I don't know whether my HG jacket is sheltex or gortex.. But I always get to work dry no matter how heavy rain.

They saved my skin when I had an off at 70mph too. I will buy HG textilies again for sure.

Just want to add, I bought some HG/Pro Sport boots two months back and they have been nowhere near as good quality.

They have just been replaced under warranty after the zips on both boots broke within a week of each other, also the old ones were only water proof for 1h max I haven't tested the replacements yet but even my "not water proof" sidi's managed better than that when they were new.

Cruise II jacket at £329 new keeps me dry and warm even when caught in a monsoon. Ventilated well for summer use, removable storm collar and thermal liner.

X-trafit gloves £89 new not too impressed by the seams in an off (had one pair replaced after they split) but are completely watertight

Maxwell GTX boots £159 new totally awesome in every way. Totally waterproof and feel really well made.

Didnt have the £279 they wanted for the matching cruise II trousers for my jacket so opted for joe rocket ballistic 5.0 (£69) waterproof but not very breathable and can't remove the liner. looking for a summer pair now that fit without requiring bloody braces.
