Alrighty, after visiting my mate tonight I thought I might aswell go for a jolly nice ride.

So there I go, heading off towards city centre on my 2month old, sparkling clean, derestricted NSR.

Pull up at some lights.. "ahh don't ya just love riding at dusk time." I said to myself. Pulled off and over took a woman in the left lane.

Cruising along at about 40mph, checked the mirrors to see who was behind me, looked ahead again...SHIT, all I could see ahead of me was a car positioned sideways.

I slammed on the brakes but I couldn't stop in time, the back end started snaking, and I went head first straight into the rear left door of the car. Next thing I know I was lying on the floor next to a battered NSR.

Looking back in the direction I came from I could see the car speeding away on the pavement. I managed to get the registration, and vaguely remember what car it was.

As people were looking out of their windows, I managed to hobble to the nearest house trying to get them to give me a pen and paper to jott the registration down. Walking into the room I could smell the scent of weed... I decided to write it down in my mobile instead.

Went back to the road to pick up my poor NSR, laying on it's right side with glass and plastic scattered everywhere. By this time the witness in the car I overtook, came up to see if I was alright.

The ambulance and police turned up minutes later to get all the details, statements, breath testing done, etc. Luckily I didn't need an ambulance. I escaped with bruises and cuts, and a grazed helmet and visor.

It seems that this 'person' in the car I crashed into, was trying to perform a U-Turn or a 3Point Turn (parked on the right hand side of the road, needed to turn around). Strangely enough he failed to see a motorbike with its lights on - coming, and then sped off into the distance, without checking if I was ok, nor to report the incident or exchange details.

Damage:
All right hand side fairings,
Left front fairings,
Brake lever,
Indicators,
Right wingmirror,
Both headlights,
Possible structural damage.
All that and alot of scuffs 'n' scratches etc.

Attached is a picture of some of the bits I picked up off the road shortly after the crash. Photos of bike to follow after I get them produced.

Even now I can't sleep I'm still in shock.

N699 HWW, Red Ford Mondeo/Escort, watch out for this fucking son of a bitch! Evil or Very Mad

Cam.

Ouch, sounds like your bikes a bit stuffed then Confused You're really lucky you got their plate, coz the fact he/she decided to make a run for it is gonna put them in the wrong.

Man that's unlucky, hope you and the bike both heal soon and the coppers get the car driver.

Hope it hasn't put you off being one of the NSR posse!

Oh no Shocked Sad Sorry to hear that mate.

But on a positive note, you should get money for repairing your bike and possibly compensation for injury.

The BCF curse strikes again! Shocked
Cam.

Is THIS the site you are after?
Somebody posted this the other day and i bookmarked it.
They do sell fairing bits and bobs (i'm after one of the LED rear light cluster mods) bit pricey though.

Hope this helps mate.

Also not good about the driver speeding away, glad you got the details. Hope the plod do something useful and track him down. Then in comes Mister Personal Injury claim Razz.

people should have to either re-take the driving test or be stopped from driving alltogether once they reach a certain age. Theres a woman in our street, bout 65 ish, managed to turn the car on its side and slide it 20 meters down the road hitting 3 other parked cars, her "foot slipped" BOLOX, your old and you cant drive, your reflexes are shite and your a danger to yourself and others, heres a bus pass.

Update:

The cops have traced the car and it matches my description and registration I gave them. He/She should be having a visit from them sometime soon. Very Happy Twisted Evil Razz

As for the insurance side of things, even if the driver isn't insured then I can claim on some kind of additional cover. Turns out I signed up for this - just a mere £20 a year, when I purchased the bike and insurance. £20 is alot better than paying hundreds upon hundreds.

Looking good. Let's just hope they don't find out it's been derestricted. Wink

Cam.

one:
That means you will be making a claim.
This will increase you insurance for the next few years.
Something to think about if you intend to get a bigger bike.
