You might have to jack up the rear end slightly. Isn't that a MK1 Honda BROS rear wheel? Smile

Its ugly, but its just what the VFR needs - on my old NC24 with the 16 inch front and 18 rear, the rear tyre always turned really slowly in comparison to the front, felt odd.

I know I have to jak-up my rear end it's not a problem I actually intend to do that. So sorry tarts Razz if it's an ugly wheel, thats not the reason I buying it for. the wheel will look good once resprayed and it is a honda bros wheel thats been machined to fit. Very Happy

I can't complain as I'm getting it cheap. Half the price you would normally pay for a RVF rear wheel.

Erm.. can't you get 090s for the 18" anyway... and I thought the general consensus was that that was 'quality' rubber?

Yes you can get 090's, or used to be able to get them for the 18" wheels.

Why other than size do you want to do it? Personally I don't like the Honda BROS wheels but then that is personal preference.

With the 17" there's a much wider choice with Michelins etc. They're mainly popular with racers so they can fit the best slicks, although they usually go for an RVF or VFR750 wheel. Wouldn't an old Bros wheel be heavier and increase the unsprung weight?

Robby if I actually bought your VFR there are so many things about it which you wouldn't have pointed out aren't there Razz
And no i don't go round measuring bikes so i wouldn't have noticed. Razz

Mainly tyre choice and also tyres tend to be cheaper in 17 than 18.
and Maurice the rear suspension will eventually be sent off to be modified so that the rear will be raised.

Dean,

Take a look at the 400 greybike site for information on modifying the rear to 17 inch and about the suspension.

It can be done and I would stick to using BT090's if I were you. You can use more slick road tyres from michellin but when it's wet they'll be leathal.

Regards,
Kevo.

Cheers Kevo, i think bt090's will be th tyres that I opt for in the end and most probably get some more slick roads tyre nearer summer time. I will check the site nearer to the time when my funds will let me able to afford the mod. What do you reckon it will cost me for the mod Kevo, I have a figure of about £150 in my head.

Not sure tbh, theres obviously the cost of the wheel and shock adjustments.

If it was me I would buy an original RVF rear wheel as anything else would look wrong and possibly make selling the bike later more difficult.

Regards,
Kevo.

To get a quality brand-new longer shock you're looking at £400 plus depending on what you go for. I think the adjustable suspension linkages are less than £50. You can also get your existing shock lengthened and rebuilt for around your sort of figure.

I won't buy a new shock as I know I will never push the bike that hard for it to make a difference. The bros wheel that I'm buying was used for racing but the guy selling it bought some dymags so doesn't need it anymore. I'll end up getting it extended.

You'll be suprised even for road riding what the effect of having a maxon spring and the front forks looked at will do.

Deano: Hagon shocks from Buster's are about £220-270ish. Not bad for a good make like Hagon. I'd try them first matey.
