I've always been quick to spot spam and fake job adverts but in desperation I applied a job like this:

https://ipswich.gumtree.com/ipswich/09/63670009.html

(same job different area)

if you go to Privatexl.com it goes to facebook.com so thats weird, but i applied and i received a email a few days ago.

Heres the email:

Thank you for submitting your resume for our position. I apologise for the wait as we have had a lot of candidates but I am happy to let you know that we would like to proceed with your application.

The starting salary is £420 per week (we will offer you a exact figure after our interview with us).

As stated before one of your various responsibilities will include entering sensitive data in our games and applications, as well as on various social media platforms. You will have to learn how to use our proprietary software and games as quickly as possible. You'll be part of our team responsible for efforts in online social games. Its the fastest growing division of our business and one of the backbones of our viral marketing strategies. We'll call you tomorrow at 7.30 pm and go trough the fundamentals of the job with you. Its vital for you to be able to learn the basics quickly. The interview will take around 15 minutes and will be conducted by me.

As part of the interview process you are required t o complete a basic IQ test that we can keep on file. Please complete your IQ test at https://www.iqtest.eulondonjobs.com/

That is all for today. Personally, I am wanting to get this position filled with a new friendly face and am looking forward to our phone interview tomorrow.

I hope you have a wonderful day,

Ok first things first US/UK phone numbers? whats that about?

Secondly EULondonjobs.com redirects to https://www.eurolondon.com/content_static/home.asp
Which is certainly not a global social media company?

Anyway anyone seen this one before or perhaps heard/worked for them perhaps? Very suspicious but i've just secured a job through Gumtree which looked worse than that so you never know. Confused

The IQ test has a ££ at the end of it.

it's just another marketting scam. These days I won't even apply for a job unless I can verify the company exists by doing a quick companies house check on them (free)

Appears so:
IQ test redirects to this site:
https://cellrow.com/s/uk_iqspeed_445_04311/?ref4=7785&ref5=10577&sa=uulwtlpntlouq&ref2=lnk&ref3=sh_ukiq_lnk&sa=uulwtlpntlouq&keyword=43010&affiliate=43010&od=rjl15g

Which is a stupid thing you put your mobile number in to sign up for spam.

After checking the email carefully (new hotmail sucks!) it appears the emails come from a yahoo account so it all reeks of SCAMpy.

Cheers Thumbs Up Karma

Typical internet sleazebag operation. Linked to hundreds of other "affiliated" domains all out to make a fast buck off unsuspecting suckers.

This is what I found in my inbox after speculatively sending a CV off to a similar gumtree ad for a social networking job:

Quote:

This sounded fantastic - I thought, ooh, my job searching skills are excellent, I'll do that job for a little while, great! I did notice the mail was from a yahoo account, but thought, hmmm... it's a low level company with a self starter... give them a chance...

I then clicked the 'IQ test' link, it was incredibly basic and when I got to the end it asked for my number and a sign up to a £4.50 a week puzzle service... At that point I knew it was all a waste of time, hoping eager beavers put their number in and sign up because all they have on their mind is that job...

So watch out! - Also be careful who you send personal details in your CV too...

Take care,

BS
