OK so I've narrowed it down to 2 bikes which are pretty much chalk and cheese.

Option A

https://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww78/fendi2168/DUCATI749THRILLINGTECHNOLOGYducati-.jpg

Duc 749 because it's just Drooling

Option B

https://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad235/petros2r/S2R.jpg

Duc S2R 1000/800 Because it looks awesome, more comfy for commuting and cheaper to service

So what ya think??? Mr. Green

id get the 749, but that is only because im more in to sports bikes,
in the case of 749, it isn't the best bike in its class... but i can understand the lust for one,
the monster has better preforming rivals, and imo better looking ones too Penny Coin Penny Coin Thumbs Up

I know the bikes I've chose aren't the best, fastest, etc. But I like Ducati's and know them pretty well, I just don't if I want a sports bike or another naked.

Although there is also the S4R which has the testastretta engine...

Well they're both great looking bikes. Thumbs Up

Question is, how do you ride now? Are you willing to compromise alot in comfort?

You already know loads about the 749 and the S2rs i bet.

My bid....The S2R...The 1000 with better brakes and fully adjustable suspension....in Red...with Black wheels..and full Termi system (or Arrows)..no bladder..ecu..

Ducati S2R...Done.

Even tho the 800 has a wet clutch i'd put up with the racket on the 1000 for the extra bhp.

Well for the past month I've had clip ons on my Monster which turned out they were lower than a sports bike but it wasn't too bad but I've switched back to normal bars because the visibility wasn't too great.

I use the bike for commuting about once a week and weekend fun. I agree on the 800 v 1000 thing though, i've also heard some 'horror stories' on the 800 slipper clutch

Prefer the 749 myself...Like mentioned above, generally prefer sportsbikes.

You have to admit though....1098 was the best idea yet? Laughing

Its gotta be the monster for the all round ability. The 749 will be OK a tiny amount of the time, and the majority of the time it'll be hell.

A bit like dating a Supermodel. Occasionally it'll be a total dream but most of the time it'll throw tantrums and the crockery will get broken. Oh yeah, and it'll take bribes from african warlords too...

I don't fully understand the slipper clutch type effect used on the 800. Its not a proper slipper is it? And not heard loads of problems about them. (Ducatisti browser)
The 888,916 i recently sat on were tres extreme for commuting IMO.
When my elbows are 2" away from my knees i consider that a racing crouch Very Happy (5'10)

Man i loved that 888 (have you seen the new 888 Evo...Lusty)

As looks seem to be the major factor here; choose the one you like the look of more.

You mean 848 Evo? Wink

MarJay that's what I was thinking although not quite that context Laughing It will great when out for a blast but slow speed stuff might be a problem

The slipper on the 800 is a little different from the one on my 620, a few people have had theirs eat themselves but most say they are great and prefer them to the 1000's. But the 800 is too similar to mine power wise

Looks are a factor I admit ( Mr. Green ) but that's just the first part. If it was purely on looks I would just get the 749 but I actually have to use it! Laughing

A Monster with fairings, I like them in the Senna colours and insurance is cheap too. Hmm another bike thrown into the mix!

Pat - There are a few 848's at work and they are real nice but the 999R next to it wins every time Drooling
