On my bike, NC30, for some reason it feels like you have to do some crazy Chinese gymnast moves to get your knee to go down before the pegs go down. Like not just stick you knee out, but pivot it on the peg then move your hips and body right forward and off the bike. Or the peg will just go down first. It is just the way the bike is or is it the same for all bikes?

I just want some warning of how far over I am before the pegs go down.

sounds to me like you're not leaning off/hanging off like you should be.

shift a bum cheek over, outside leg up and locked against tank, head down 'kissing' the mirror and the leg should come out naturally.

the effect of this keeps the bike more upright at the same corner speed allowing you more lean and higher speed round the corner.

i highly doubt the pegs would be too low, not on that bike..

Im the same on my cbr, have to hang off like a demented monkey to get the knee down before the pegs grind out, but then again its not really a knee down bike, more of a mile munching tourer. Do some stretching before you ride to loosen your joints up...

Thing is I am paranoid about practicing since I look like a fool hanging off like that if I don't manage. It is possible I have done it a few times, just it looks like on other bikes it is easier, like the people are barely slid over in the seat.

Usually I just move my upper body around, or move around the bike without sticking my knee out. You have to be leant right over for the pegs to go down it isn't that they are low, just that I can't seem to scramble into position.

It's not for any purpose really, not to look cool either since I don't like doing it around people so try to slip in a cheeky knee down when no one is looking Very Happy. It just puts a beast of a grin on me when I do lol.

My sliders are second hand and scrapped right down so they are only about 1cm high, where I have seen others with them quite thick, maybe that is it?

Get someone to take a picture of you riding you'll see it'll probably look normal and it's a good way of checking out your body positioning Thumbs Up

Theres a big roundabout not far from my place and its Nat speed limit. Its great practice to get the knee down.

However, my problem lies in the confidence. I dont have enough of it to hang off the bike. I've only had the big bike a couple of months and I'm still finding my limits. Good news is I have gone up 10mph since I started using that roundabout (only a few times a week), bad news is its only from 40 - 50mph.

I'm leaning the bike over, just not myself. The knee comes out but I wouldnt exactly call it down. I do shift my weight to the side a little but just havent got the confidence to hang off the bike.

You're doing well to grind the pegs! i've leant off my CBR, as far as i dare, no chicken strips on the back at all and still can't get peg or knee down, goes all wobbly before i can get any further over!

Bottom half of your body sounds like it's not off the seat enough, one arse cheek off, foot on end of peg, outside elbow resting on tank

This is my proof ( while i 'borrowed' a mates scooter' you can do it with fuckall lean angle, ok i was hanging off like a complete monkey for lulz but you can see how upright the scootay is.
i know normal bikes are higher up, but i do have a picture somewhere of me doing the same on my R6, and doing it on a straight bit of road.

i dunno on a scooter (lol at the pic) but on a proper bike its all about the outside leg. push up, lock your knee into the tank and let it take all your weight. let that take your weight and leave your arms free to control direction Smile

Think the other pic i have is on my external hd, with the scooter i did the opposite of what i do on the duke and put most of my weight on the outside peg, and the seat is quite large on the scooter so i sort of used that abit aswell Laughing
