its different for different bikes

Sometimes measure the resistance between the terminals you will need a manual/specs to check what this should be and between which terminals

Sometimes you start the bike up and check the VAC produced at a certain rpm eg. 160VAC @ 3000rpm

sounds like you need a repair manual or maybe someone can help more if you say what bike it is

You can't - but you can with a multimeter Smile

The specs are different per bike so you need to check in the manual.

If it doesnt run you will have to take it apart and look for burnt wiring, it will be pretty obvious if its the windings that have gone
