I am having problems with a Honda CBR125R which I have just bought, it is a 2004 model and has been unused for about a year. Done around 7200 miles. When I get it up to 3rd or 4th gear it slows then cuts out. I have to give it choke to restart, let it idle on choke for about 2 minutes, then it drives ok.... for around 10 minutes, when it cuts out again. Any ideas.

check the spark plug, only £5 for an NGK, and its the safest bet you've got!

Are the fuel vacuum pipes conected securely? Check your timing too, had the same problem with my old engine before the cam chain went and blew the lot.

Thanks guys, got the bike serviced when I bought it, new spark plug, air filter and clutch cable, oil change and new fuel. Have checked the breather tubes which seem to be okay although the temp gauge is not rising, Could it be cutting out with over heating ?? I have noticed that the mechanic overfilled the coolant level with straight anti freeze.

Do you mean the coolant bottle near the rear shock? Dont worry if thats too high. Drain some of the coolant by undoing the bolt under the waterpump and mix with some 50:50 antifreeze.

If that doesnt solve it, check that the wire is connected to the thermostat switch on the back of the radiator correctly, if not that, take the tank off and see if all the wiring connectors are connected. Give them all a blast of WD40.

Let us know how you get on.
