[b]Ironclad 7/10

James Purfoy as mad fighting skills Templer Knight gets mixed up in the second Barons rebellion against King John (Paul Giametti). Its a rather loose telling of history but a good romp with not too much dull romantic crap in it.There's a great moment when Giametti loses it with a Baron and gives a good "F#k you I'm the King ya little bastud" which for mist if the movie King John is portrayed as petty and mean but in this one speech you get a powerful showing of the utter and total power that a king could expect to hold in the mindset of the middle ages and for a moment you understand and sympathise with King John. Very impressed with Giamettis ability to project that. Much better all in all than I expected.

Step Brothers (2008) - 7/10

I've seen this before and it's still good. The cast has great chemistry, full of quotable bits. I remember seeing this with mates back in 2008 and we were quoting the lines for days. Will Ferrell used to be a great comedian, John C. Reilly as well.

I remember the boats 'n hoes bit being good, not much else Smile

Labyrinth of lies 5/10 - upbeat film about Auschwitz Neutral The idea (apparently based on true events) is interesting, it's about how after WW2 Germans tried to forget the war, the only problem with that was Nazi SS officers were still everywhere, and the film follows a young prosecutor trying to bring them to justice. I didn't think it was that good (it's highly rated on Prime video), felt like one of those 'amazing' continental dramas people go on about, that are actually very ordinary.

Good Will Hunting.

Amazing. For me, Robin Williams' best performance.
Minnie Driver, Matt Damon and even Ben Affleck all deliver. 9/10

The House.

Fairly funny comedy about some parents setting up an illegal casino to band the money together for their kid to go to university, after the corrupt local goverment dude gets rid of the scholarship thing that they do. Amy Poehler is good, Will Ferrell is better than he has been recently, and Jason Mandzoukis is really good. Worth a watch, 6.5/10

Fifth Element - 9/10

Perfect film with a perfect cast. What's not to like?
Sorry I'm being insanely biased, but its one of the few films I can bear to watch more than once (I hate repetitiveness - something to do with a photographic memory I think /humblebrag)

If you haven't seen it before - its a SCI-FI film by Luc Besson (currently doing Valerian I think?), starring Bruce Willis, Mila Jovovic, Gary Oldman and Chris Tucker.

Bruce plays the usual sarcastic rugged good guy, Gary plays a quality power hungry bad guy and Mila the perfect being or 'Fifth Element'.

Timeless. Very Happy

(don't worry no matter what you say about it my opinion wont change!)

Bronson

Watched the last half this time, from about when he goes home to his mums (which is about where I fell asleep/gave up last time)

I actually said "Aw Poor Charlie" when the diamond ring didn't work.
Testament, I think, to the acting skill of Tom Hardy that I could actually feel sorry for such an utter nut job.

Can't remember what I scored it last time, but I'll add an extra point for that tiny spot of pathos.

Well, okay, I'll add an EXTRA extra point cos we saw his willy.

The Magnificent Seven (2016) 7/10

Straight up remake western. Set up our baddies (booo) and our spunky heroine (wholesome but low necklined), introduce our medley of good(ish) heroes, get right down to the bang-bang.

Can't really argue with the premise or the execution. It delivers exactly what it needs to. I can kill again!

Chris Pratt is basically Cowboy Starlord, but he's pretty badass. Worth watching for Him, Denzel and the knife dude. Casting is excellent. Ethan Hawke who often plays a bit of a wet blanket was perfect as the gun shy killer with a reputation that he struggled to live up to.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, and westerns aren't usually my bag (baby).

Baby Driver 4/10 - fairly meh, I think it was trying to be cooler than it actually was. Similar plot to Drive with Ryan Gosling, except all the car scenes in Baby Driver are unbelievably fake so you can't even enjoy that side of things.

Spiderman Homecoming 5/10 - another f**king Spiderman reboot, but joys of joy he's now a part of the Marvel cinematic universe, so expect cameo appearances from Iron Man and shit. The film wasn't actually that bad but there's something else that massively annoyed me, kind of a spoiler so I won't say what but I wish they would stop f'ing up stories (especially Sci-Fi/fantasy) in the name of diversity.

The Lorax 5/10 - not a bad film but probably too aimed at children to be really enjoyed by adults (unlike Toy Story etc.).

The Equalizer (2014) 4/10

Starts off promisingly enough with Chloë Grace Moretz hoiked up all the way yonder, but then turns into a fairly plodding sausage fest. Denzel Washington shuffles around being Geezer Batman, with some weird handicap that makes him incapable of picking up a gun.

It's pretty slow paced, formulaic and predictable, not really worth the time. None of the fun of RED.

Galaxy Quest - 9/10

One of the best star Trek movies Smile Sigourney Weaver looks hot, forgot Alan Rickman is now dead, Tim being Kirk Tim and Tony Shalhoub acting like he's in some Outer Limits dream.

One of my favourite scenes that had me in stitches:

Going in Style - 6/10

Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin are three pensioners who need money, so they decide to rob a bank. Great cast, good plot, not so well executed. It had it's moments, but I've expected a bit more from these lads. They even got Christopher Lloyd to take a part in it, who did a great job, considering his role.

Alright comedy film, nothing extraordinary, predictable jokes and plot twists. 6/10 is reasonable.

The Mummy - 7.5/10

I actually enjoyed the Brendan Fraser one (What the fuck happened to him?) but this was decent to just sit back and switch off your brain to.

The Circle - 4/10

That's a low score for me and it started out in the first 10-20 minutes as a 6/10 but it deteriorated over the course of the film. It had a lot of promise too but there was some cheese acting in there and just bizzare lines in the plot which didn't make sense.

Alien Covenant - 7/10

It's Ridley Scott and I don't care if it's not original, just good to watch a space film that isn't a B movie.

San Andreas 4/10 - Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson plays the hero, saving his family from a devastating earthquake, ripping off car doors and shit. Never mind millions of people died, the main characters survived so it's all good Thumbs Up

Goon 3/10 - not a single laugh for me, yet this film has got decent reviews. Not sure I was watching the same movie Neutral

Mad Max Fury Road 3/10

One long action sequence. Nuff said. Bored and annoyed with people who recommended it.

Some of the special effects were good, but it's basically a drive down a road, then a drive back...

You have to be in the right mindset. It's not a movie to have on in the background when you're doing something else. I've tried this a couple of times and not gotten through it.

If you're up for 2 hours of mental action without a lot of dialogue or what have you, then it is a fantastic movie. It's just certainly a movie you have to be in the right mood for. It's a bit like Schindlers List. It's a masterpiece, but you have to be in the right place, time and mood for it.

I agree with the Marjay fella. The first Max movie had very little dialog and that made it a classic, this one tried to copy that mould. OK it missed a little but its still a great bit if cinema if you actually sit and watch it.

Maybe I should try it again then? I turned it off 20min before the end, and then told everyone what a load of old bollocks it was. Currently it's the worst film I've seen this year. I even rate the crappy annoying as hell new Spiderman film above this shit.

Tom Hardy is better than this and should have told them bollocks IMO.

Focus 5/10 - The Fresh Prince and Margot Robbie (Wub) team up as grifters. It's ok, would have rated it higher but it loses its way a bit with a convoluted plot.

Is he though? I've never really rated him, or thought he had much screen presence - he's no Mel Gibson.

Charlize Theron is more Big Screen, but phones in the character, what there is of it.

It's got the Raiders of the Lost Ark problem as well - the nominal protagonist might as well not be in it.

And it might have been the Amazon encoding, it might even have been deliberate, but I found the dialogue practically inaudible as well. Just explosions and muffled yelling.

Great visual spectacle, but that's about it.

I think Tom Hardy's a good actor. Watched The Drop last night on film 4 which was fairly meh, but his performance shone through. And he tackles bike thieves Wub

Not sure what the hype was about really.

Cardboard acting from most, and the 'oh it's so tough when you're at rock bottom' scenes were mostly unrealistic.

2/10 at best for me. Unwatchable guff.
