Manchester by the Sea 6/10 - slow emotional thing, but I liked how the interactions felt real, and it conveyed some of the real tension/awkwardness you get between people.

Una - 7/10

Fucked up film. Ben Mendelsohn, recognise that name? He's one of the actors who you seen in a lot of stuff but you can never quite place his name, for me at least. Rooney Mara is also in this, as she seems to be in about 10 films that came out this year.

The Beguiled - 6.5/10

It was a bit long and drawn out for what it was but had it been about 30 mins shorter, it would have been a solid 7.

Tokyo Ghoul live action 6/10
Didn't know about manga/anime at all and watched this film.
It's a story of both human and ghoul(which eat human) sides.
Ghouls has Kagune as weapon in their body, Human(CCG) side try to kill Ghouls with weapon called quinque. Main charactor Kaneki was about to be eaten by a Rize but saved by an "accident", and transplanted some Rize's body parts by a doctor, which made him half-human half-Ghoul.
Later I rented all volumes of mangas. 119 mins film covers only first 3 volumes of mangas. I liked it's story. It was interesting to read YT comments by manga fans saying actress was ugly(Yuu Aoi who acted Rize).

Ajin demi-human live action 5/10
Didn't know about manga/anime at all and watched this film.
Most of the scenes were fighting action scenes. Maybe more than a half?
109 mins film was too short, and not kind for beginners with less explanation on IBM(some black fighter comes out of Ajins).
Later I watched some of anime on YT, anime seems to be better than this film. Haven't read manga yet, so can't tell story is good or not. YT comments by anime fans were saying Badass Satou shouldn't be acted by young actor.

Citizen Kane

Wanted an old film to watch on a rainy Sunday afternoon, never seen what it allegedly the greatest film ever made, so Citizen Kane it was.

I enjoyed it - it is relevant to today in that it concerns a media mogul who's power corrupts. Good script, well acted etc etc....

The only thing that spoiled it was that I already knew Rosebud was his sledge.

Baywatch 3.5/10 - pretty bad as I was expecting, there were a few laughs, and some nice boobies but I struggled to make it through to the end.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

I really enjoyed the first one (unexpectedly) and thought that this one looked good. I don't think it is as good as the first (9/10 for the church scene alone) but it is still strong. The inclusion of Elton John irritated me though. Give it a try 8/10

Cooties (2014)

Shaun of The Dead but with teachers. Elijah Wood, Allison Pill and Rainn Wilson are teachers who have to escape zombified kids who have been infected by eating dodgy chicken nuggets. It was alright to watch, but nothing brilliant. 6.5/10

Grand Prix (1966, remastered 1080p) - 9/10

This film was very, very well made. The racing bits were just exceptional. It sure was not cheap to make. Not even CGI and documentaries have such attention to detail.

1 point down for the story telling.

Blade runner 2049

Just got back from watching this, definitely worth paying to go and see it at the cinema, it think it will loose some of the impact on the small screen.

7/10

just watching the Trainspotting 2, paused it waiting for everyone else at the opening sequence with the running machine.

It looks to me that Renton underpronates, so unless he is a method actor , so does Ewan McGregor. Thinking

Read Porno some years ago. Should be interesting to see what the film is like.

Well, very often the plot goes out the window - it's character that matters.

Got messed about this evening, so just resumed watching it. Laughing

Transformers: The Last Knight - 05/10

It looks good, it looks good and um it looks good. That's about it.
Also they have a new 16 year old girl, who plays as a 14 year old, that the film seems to be trying to make her into the new Megan Fox. Oh and a setup for the next film.

Hounds Of Love : 6.5/10

I don't normally watch films like this, just not in to them but it was pretty unsettling. A couple who abduct a girl and hold her prisoner... set in Australia in the late 80's.

Message from The King : 7/10

Dude comes over from Cape Town to Los Angeles to find his sister who had fallen in with the wrong crowd but then disappeared. There were a couple of plot holes but it was well done and enjoyable.

So, yeah, I liked it.

It wasn't as good as the first film, but it was like catching up with an old friend, lots of tongue in cheek nods to other movies, like the Nosferatu shadow.

Like andym said, nothing much like the book, but a couple of nods to it. In many ways, I preferred the movie - as it somehow humanised the characters a bit more, and a slightly softer ending for them all - with the possible exception of Begby - who in his own psychotic way was redeemed in a way. Spud triumphed in a way.

I'd give Trainspotting 9/10 and this 7/10. Glad I watched it.

Was going to watch new Bladerunner tonight, but the tickets are over a tenner each, and the movie is nearly 3hrs long. Confused

Hitmans Bodygaurd - 6.5/10

Funny at times, cliche all the tie. All felt like a bit of a Reynolds and Jackson where quite good together, but with that, it should have been funnier. Feels like the whole thing just coasts by. Over all, fairly ok, guilty pleasure type of film to stick on in the background while your pretend to study / work.

Jack Reacher - Never Go Back (1/10)

Had to watch it as I love the Jack Reacher series. Tom Cruise is not fucking Jack Reacher...

Quote:
JACK REACHERS APPEARANCE IN THE BOOKS
- Reacher is a giant standing at 6' 5" tall (1.96m) with a 50-inch chest, and weighing between 210 and 250 pounds (100–115 kg).
- He has ice-blue eyes and dirty blond hair.
- He has very little body fat, and his muscular physique is completely natural
- Reacher is strong enough to break a man's neck with one hand and kill a villain with a single punch to the head or chest
- In a fight against a 7 foot, 400 lb steroid-using thug, Reacher was able to lift his opponent into the air and drop him on his head.
- Reacher has various scars

Does that sounds like Tom Cruise to anyone else? Lee Child is a sell out.

I think they should have cast Ray Stevenson as Reacher who is actually ex-forces.

https://images6.fanpop.com/image/photos/33700000/outpost-ray-stevenson-33714698-500-422.jpg

(no-one will probably give a shit about this post but it's been bugging me so quite cathartic to get it out.)

Anyway, film is crap, actors seem to be running constantly, I've not even finished the film yet but I don't hold high hopes.

Mad Max Fury Road 7/10

Wish I'd watched it in cinema. It was a visual delight. Original mad max films were good and this seemed to fit the feel or the originals very well. Tom Hardy was good but think that maybe they should have kept with Mel Gibson to make it more authentic.

Blade Runner 2049 9/10

Good but incredibly long, there was only one scene that I think it didn't need.

Just been to see this as my 16 year old is a fan of the original. He loved it, for me I had no idea for a long time what was going on, really far out and weird, like being high or some strange dream.

This I need to see, I've read the book, seen the first film and would like to see how it continues.

The Dark Tower - 8/10
I don't get why it's meant to be a bad film. OK, I've not read the books. I tried to get though two of them but fail, I also don't understand why he thinks that its his best work, they were just boring.
