I did actually read about Helsinki syndrome, because curious, but after I'd posted.

Free Solo 6/10

Alex Honnold climbs rock in Yosemite park.

6 out of 10 for a film ostensibly about a man climbing up a rock is pretty impressive in itself.

Oscar winner...BAFTA winner.

I really enjoyed this, you all know the story, an American family bereft of a child suddenly find a crashed space object in their back garden containing a baby and they take it in (so like Superman right? WRONG). This little kiddy is a proper little cunt and intent on world domination.

He is very much the anti hero. That's what makes this good. The way he despatches his victims is rather satisfying and you find yourself in a state of awe rooting for the bad guy. Helsinki syndrome to the max.

I saw the trailer for this it looks much good, do want

Hereditary 2/10 - utter shite, 2hrs of my life I'll never have again, god knows how its got 7.5 on IMDb, they must have all been watching a different film.

Get out 5/10 - it ok, not great just ok. Difficult to summarise without spoiling it.

I agree, it had so much potential and in the end it was just wank.

The Hummingbird Project - 6/10

One of those 'merican ''yes we can'' films. I quite enjoyed this one, not bad at all, but it was just missing something. Not sure if it's a true story, but it seems like it is. Worth it, if you've got nothing better to do.

CAM 7/10

Some weird cam girl film that shows what happens when your online profile and email gets h4x0r3d. Good film from a pervy type of view with all the dirrrty ladies. The wife never liked it and gave it her usual "What's this shit we're watching now?".

If you're a guy, 7/10. If you are a woman 1/10 because it's demeaning.

Yep and available from usual places if you want to steal it. It's a really good film hellkat, you'd probably like it.

Last Breath (2019), 10/10.

It's a documentary about a diving accident in the N. Sea, using actual video footage of the event, and interviews with those involved.
I won't spoil for those who haven't seen it, but it is better than Hollywood fantasy.
It's on Netflix.

That reminds me

47 metres down 2/10 a netfix original, fit birds go shark diving on some ramshackle old boat, what could possibly go wrong. If you've ever scuba dived or have a basic grasp of the physics involved then give it a wide berth.

Mpd72 will love it

Get Out - 6/10

Felt like Just Another Netflix Film. The high ratings are clearly manufactured by right-on social justice folk who think the racism sub-plot made it extra special.

It's supposed to be a horror film, but all I got for the whole thing was blatant white guilt masked by a "white people who secretly worship black people" narrative (which would be unthinkable if the colours were reversed).

Not scary and massive race-bait cringe.

American Poltergeist DNF/10

Meh. Dont even bother. It was cardboard acting and very dodgy script, pathetic special effects and in the end I turned it off!

US 6.5/10

not great, not bad but not too bad. lots of plotholes but won't mention as will contain spoilers. better than get out (same director) as not a race-bait film (or is it? who knows), if your into obscure B-movies it is quite good

not a film but
Chernobyl 9/10

very well made and if you are into true story films/series then Thumbs Up

Watched Rocketman last night. Not an Elton John fan nor like any of that genre type of music but really enjoyed the film 7/10

It's kind of like they story before he cleaned himself up from the drink/drugs with some songs chucked in for good measure.

Going through a bit of a horror movie phase at the moment. Never thought I'd be into this kind of thing, but it's happening for the moment.

The Conjuring - 7/10

The first half is a solid 8.5/10, good and creepy.

The final part descends into a 6/10, and isn't much more than a direct rewrite of The Exorcist. Very disappointing, and highly unoriginal.

Will probably watch the sequel tonight anyway.

I found the second one better. there was a few more creepy jumpy moments in it. We're big fans of the whole world they have created with the movies, Conjuring, annabelle, the nun etc.

Stan and Ollie 5/10

It was OK I guess...

The acting was awesome, so realistic. The storyline was a bit dull though.

THE INTRUDER 8/10

Dennis Quaid plays a psycho house owner that sells the house but won't leave the new couple alone. This has been done multiple times by Hollywood, Dennis Quaid is still as menacing as ever and for the 100 minutes makes it very watchable.

Recommended.

The Great Gatsby (Di Caprio version)

8/10. Watched on Amazon last night. I didnt expect to like this but found it an enjoyable watch.

The Lion King (New CGI version).

4/10. How to ruin a film. Feels like Napa has both a different role and more lines than the original just because beyonce was the voice over actor and they wanted a stronger female part (typical Hollywood), not because it adds anything. Removed some of the best bits and replaced with unfunny jokes and self references.

If you're thinking ok going to see it its broadly okay, but youd be better off watching the old one.

Entirely predictable and generally Sleeping

Appaloosa - 5/10

Hilarious attempt at a western film. Directed by and starring Ed Harris as a wannabe Clint Eastwood type, sheriff of the town for whom the only thing separating him and the guys he's against is the fact that the law is on his side.

It's like the Hollyoaks of wild west films. Second rate acting, and the plot is like something out of a soap opera. Shallow romance, cardboard emotions and every wild west trope you can imagine, badly. It really felt like it was filmed on a set, if that makes sense. Nothing felt wild or western about it.

I think Ed Harris sang the song that ran with the credits, too.

What I really think, is that this was just a fun thing that he's always wanted to do; something ticked off of the Ed Harris bucket list. Create and star in a western. For that, fair play. But for the film itself, it's just so bad.

Viggo Mortesson just about holds the thing together as the only reasonable performance.

Renee Zelwegger also features. She looked about 55 years old, though at the time of filming she was only 39. Clearly earned a load of money from Bridget Jones then just went wild for a decade or so.

weathering with you 1/10
(I'm not an anime fan) Whether anime fan or not, this is not a film should be compared to your name. Whether anime fan or not, if you enjoyed your name and expecting this to be as the same level, please avoid this. You will be disappointed. Full of commercialism inside the film, awful story, poor background of characters. Many are posting disappointed reviews but sponcers post boosted points to keep good average. Even imdb looks being boosted.
