Just started watching Persuasion (see Hetzer above post) and I must say I was a bit disappointed at the rather frugal cleavage offerings ...... But then, whats this? Well helloooo Lady Penelope, we are so charmed with your presence Laughing

Persuasion
Worst film ive seen in years. Truly crap in every way. Laughable it was so poorly scripted, directed and acted.

i was expecting more after all the positive reviews its had. but then compared to the quality of most of the films that are released these days i can see why its rated so high.

Haha it's actually brilliant! I loved it, came across it after seeing a meme and so glad I followed it up. The opening is fucking brutal and uncomfortable but as soon as I saw the first scene with the Policeman I was hooked Laughing Laughing

Thinking Was it a bollywood thing? I don't actually know.

There were a few exuberant bouts of joyful singing/dancing, some epic and quite gory battles/torture scenes, often hilarious, a LOT of CGI, and heroes that even I cheered for.

It was very long, but surprisingly enjoyable.
The guy playing the Governor (or whatever pompous British Empire character he was) reminded me of my mate Tiny. Wub

Laughing you might hate it Laughing

I think it was the warning about the wild animal scenes being done by CGI is what captured me - the tigerrrrrs! Wub

I might have also been captured by the scene with the policeman prospect (?apprentice? what do they call apprentice policemen?) - he had attractively fierce eyes whilst he was doing his stuff Shifty

But I would possibly watch another one, just to see if the genre is always that entertaining.

I think he will like it, I think most people that watch it will enjoy it. Laughing

EDIT:

I love the YouTube compilations of Bollywood action scenes to see some outrageous and funny stuff like guys stopping bullets with their teeth and one time seen a scene of a guy drifting a horse Laughing

If you want a laugh at bad effects and choreography then search YouTube for "Japanese Spiderman" Laughing

I just watched Top Gun: Maverick (it's out on VOD), and for me the hype was justified.

It's a brilliantly executed film that remembers you're meant to entertain, and leave the audience feeling good about what they've spent two hours of their life doing, something Hollywood rarely seems to do these days.

They pretty much nailed everything, cinematography, nostalgic references to the original without going overboard, and although the film was a tad predictable towards the end I still enjoyed every second of it.

9/10 for me, as one or two bits were OTT but my film of the year Thumbs Up

I just watched DOG on Amazon Prime.
About a Gulf war veteran taking his captain's war-dog (barking mad, literally Laughing ) back to his funeral.
Sad in places, but not what you think.
Feelgood sorta thing but not too corny.
... a couple of genuine lol moments.
Some great scenery down the California coast Wub

I saw it at the flicks. I felt it was trying to make a point about how sad and uncaring the US is but it pulled its punches and fell a bit short of its promise. A bit meh really, but yes some funny moments like when they land up in the dope farmers place.

It's a lazy poor imitation of Game of Thrones, and an arrogant attempt to undo the disaster that was season 8, by filling the first episode with moments from GoT which took sodding seasons to build up to.

I watched 'I came by' on Netflix.

It was OK-ish apart from the blatant woke messages.

Apart from the usual white colonial guilt, it's clear from the start when the hero steals a tenner off a middle class guy waiting for a train, to give to a beggar.

I just think there's a downside to where that £10 might go which is ignored.

But on the upside it stopped the middle class guy blowing the money on wine at Sainsbury's.
