Hi there, own a peugeot speedfight 100, did a top engine rebuild on it, though..now after letting go of the throttle say after 25 - 30mph, it makes like a growling noise, which i've never heard before..Could it just be the new engine rebuild breaking it's self in or something more serious, cause i don't have a clue what it is lol, it runs okay, ticking over as it should do etc any one have a clue?

cheers

Check that you do not have any leaks around the cylinder head, exhaust port and inlet manifold from the carb, I would check the cylinder head first by sprinkling some talcum powder around the head/barrel joint and watching for blown dust.

tried doing that, and it's not blowing. Also it has all new gaskets and there is no oil leaking around the barrel/cylinder head either. It's only when i hit around 35 - 40mph though, ( i did not go straight in hitting 40mph, wore the engine in for 300 miles before increasing the revs at all with the new top engine rebuild)

Op, the noise could be coming from the variator or clutch since you only notice it on the over run, remove the cover and check that everything is tight and in the right place, also check your drive belt for wear.

best bet is that the belt might be worn could also be wheel bearings maby gone dry or stiff if its been sitting for a while, whilst the engine has been getting re-built??

I checked if the variator/clutch was all in place/n tight when i recently replaced the kickstart, i also checked the belt and is in good condition, and no the bike was not sitting for long whilst the top engine rebuild was done, was riding it the next day after it was done.

@ZRX61 Wookie infestation? wtf? lol
