Right ok, before i get royally spanked for not getting the 'better' phones about Sad Sad i'm a technophobe and don't understand all the techno guff, hence just went for Wildfire as seemed like decent phone but not to much hard work hopefully!

Just wondering if anyone knows if it is any use as a sat nav as i'm about as much use as tits on a fish when it comes to directions and long distance travel Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I have co pilot 8 on my Desire but haven't tested it on a journey yet. Tarmac surfer uses his on his Desire and seems to like it. Thumbs Up

I spent the day riding around North Wales on Wednesday. Phone in pocket playing music via headphones into lid. I was simply wandering around so when it came time to head back I didn't have a clue precisely where I was, dig phone out (music still playing), punch "home" into the satnav on the phone and set off with music playing still and now a helpful little voice telling me which turns to take to get back.

All this as well as reading texts to me while riding (far easier than stopping to check the screen) and generally keeping me in touch. I'd say a phone as a satnav is pretty useful.

Google navigation is probably already on the phone, I don't know how good it is though. Smile

I use my desire as sat nav on my bike. Just headphones with the phone in my pocket playing music and telling me where to go.

Used in the car before, quite good.

Google still uses your data connection to download maps I believe. However I've used it in the car and it works ok.
I'm liking memory map (OS maps) on my HTC touch pro 2 - the decent resolution screen does the job nicely.

Nothing wrong with your phone. It's pretty much a HTC Desire with smaller/lower resolution screen and slower processor. Everything else is the same.
