need advice on a fazer 600

rite just back from seeing the above, and lookin for your opinions

its a 99 t reg with 27000 miles, looks in ok nick, nothin special, downpipes are a bit rusty but still solid, front forks have a slight pitting but no patches of rust, bodywork is ok, few scuffs but nothin major, end can looks ok, would prob change that anyway. only worry is that 2 of the carb seals (the seal between the carb and the cylinder block) are perishing and are covered in tape for the moment to maintain the seal, the guy tells me they are a fiver each and easy to fit, anyone confirm or rubbish this claim?

the bike is on ebay just now, but about to finish with no bids, i asked him how much he was lookin for it and all he said was he bought it 4 months ago for 1275 so assumin he's lookin for most of that back but because he's got no bids im hoping he'd accept less

what do you guys think? sound ok? should i be comfortable that the fazer is a reliable bike and shouldnt have much go wrong and what would yous be willing to pay?

It's a bit new for the the inlet manifolds to be cracking just for the hell of it. I somehow think they'll be more than a fiver too! One of my workmates has one he uses all year round and other than the sidestand switch causing issues in winter it's fine. The fork bottoms are trying to turn back to base elements again though.

i THINK they cost him £27 or so for all 4 new ones

assuming theyre the parts, admittedly for a different bike, but 20 quid for 4 used so guessin that a fiver for a new one is rubbish, will check with a garage tomorrow to make sure

cheers for the answers guys, not offput by the inlet rubbers, sounds like a consumable that needs changed, will just haggle some money off for them to be done, does the rest off it sound ok to yous, am considering offering 900 for it, if i dont ask i dont get eh

my fazer has cracked all 4 rubbers too. i have replaired them with some silicone glue and electrical tape. they are fine. i bought mine with 29000 miles on it, needing a service, rear tyre and tax for £925, so bare that in mind (Y)

sounds like i made the right choice then, heres how it went

was workin 7am to 7 pm today so didnt have much time to watch auction, anyway logged onto mobile ebay in the factory to find that someone had put in the starter bid of £650, so after a few minutes of thinkin i decided to bid max of 800 and if i get it i get it, auction ended at £713.67

so for 700 quid i got a 99 fazer with a years mot and in good order, absolutly delighted!!! cannot fuckin wait!! pick it up on friday if i can arrange a lift into glasgow before 1pm so heres hopin, just need to sort insurance and tax it before friday which shouldnt be a problem

well chuffed!!!!!!

Hope you enjoy the fazer. I have an 01 with 87000 miles on it. It gets ridden in all weathers and still runs sweet (no cracked anything on it).
They only thing I have ever replaced are front wheel bearings, fork seals, rear brake disc and the obvious like brake pads, c & s and tyres.
