hi i was wondering if im able to use a motocross helmet with goggles instead of buying a road helmet ill only be riding a honda ls125r so it wouldnt really matter would it? also ill only be riding during the day for a month or two

last bike, 1990 yamaha tzr125 (2rk model) - still after a fairing kit for it !!!!!

legally, the helmet needs to be approved and carry and pass sticker on it.
otherwise yeah, i have used an off road lid for on road use. also used a car/quad bike helmet before and had no trouble.

News to me.

For track days they have to have an acu sticker, but not for road use Thumbs Up

so as long as its got the clover sticker on the back its A ok to use?

It doesn't need the ACU sticker.

"By law, you must wear a safety helmet when riding a motorcycle on the road. All helmets sold in the UK must either

* comply with British Standard BS 6658:1985 and carry the BSI kitemark or
* comply with UNECE Regulation 22.05 or
* comply with any standard accepted by a member of the European Economic Area which offers a level of safety and protection equivalent to BS 6658:1985 and carry a mark equivalent to the BSI kitemark".

You can ride a bike with a helmet that does not have the above marks, but personally I wouldn't.

ACU means it is very good as you can use them on track Thumbs Up

Anything that meets ECE approval gets an ACU gold sticker by default. It doesn't mean it's an especially great helmet. It's just a nice little earner for the ACU. Wink

Its is Ok to wear motorcross helmets on the road as long as they have UNECE2205 or BSI approval. But if you wear goggles with it, they also have to be approved (e-mark) or CE approved.

No they don't. Thumbs Up

No approval mechanism in place for eye wear. You can wear nothing, aviators,oakleys, ski goggles. The eye wear doesn't have to be approved.

Just get some MX goggles then. If they can survive rocks being flung up then you're fine.
