And nothing happened!

From reading the vast number of offs being blamed on oil I was expecting to be whisked away into the next dimension in a ball of flames, screaming and lacking limbs. But nothing, not even a twitch.

I need to try harder

How do you know it was a patch of oil?

And what were the conditions you were in?!!? i.e. pushing the bike along in the garage or elbow down round paddock hill bend?!!? Confused

Just coming out of a corner. It was a big patch of diesel/oil Shocked

EDIT: just read blueSVs post.

As it's been raining all morning you could really see a nice blue tint/film to it. So guessing it was diesel.

And nope was a normal 50mph sweeping bend, no kneedown/elbow down action though Laughing

Often though the same thing when I have gone across diesely bits of road. Then one time I hit a really slippy bit, like ice, then I understood why it is best avoided.

I guess it must depend alot on how fresh the spill is, how much was spilled, the weather etc.

I've hit oil several times, and slipped but never come off stamping it up saved me a couple of times. Most of the time it has been on Roundabouts.

I had a 200mph lock to lock tank slapper on diesel covered ice, was easy to keep control, I just locked my arms like The Hulk and everything was fine!

Generally diesal is O.k. I have walked and ridden over it on numerous occasions, everyone has.
But very occasionally when the conditions are right, it can be really nasty.
At a garage forcourt I stepped out of my car and went flying (think it was fairly fresh spill). When I tried getting up I slipped over again, it was like an ice rink and I very nearly broke my neck.
If anyone had ridden over this they would of been off in seconds as I couldn't even stand up.

In that case, you had 1mircon of oil/diesel floating on top of water ... NOT a 'pure' oil puddle, hence why you weren't off-ski!! Wink
