Here’s the story...
I purchased 3 items all from individual sellers on Amazon, they’ve all sent dispatched emails so usually items arrive a few days later. That was at the start of the month (2nd I think) the order form on Amazon says the delivery will be anytime between the 4th to the 16th of this month, so this means tomorrow is the deadline.

I was a little less concerned after reading that, as it gave them more time, I was a bit annoyed it would take so long but I’m in no rush real for them.
Fast forward to now and I received a letter yesterday about TV licensing, the letter said that a couple weeks back they had sent me another letter, but I’ve had nothing from them.
I could say they were lying but I am starting to think now maybe some of my post is going astray. I called the Post office helpline about my route and as far as they’re concerned the postie has no problems with the route, i.e. finding my flat. My flat is No.1 of about 5-6 in my little area, it’s pretty obvious to someone who knows, but I don’t know if I’m getting all of my post. If I want to escalate this, what can do. Without tracking I think I’m screwed. I was thinking of going to the main sorting office which is just down the road from me.
What have you guys done in the past??

I sell a bit on ebay, every single item i posted on 24th august has gone missing and i even got a neg from some stroppy tart 9 days after she bought.

Anyway, i posted several letters to myself from various boxes using 1st and 2nd class stamps, and all arrived within 3 days, could be worth a trial like that.
Make one look interesting with return address like 'ebay collectibles' and a friends address, fill package with indelible ink or bouncer spray, anti climb paint etc to mark whoever opens it, if it doesn't arrive keep an eye out for paint on fingers of postman, you never know.

You can go to the sorting office and give them your address and ID and they will give you anything they have for you. Usually you get a ticket saying they attempted delivery etc, but if they are getting the wrong address, such as house 1 on your street, not flat 1 in house x, you won't be getting the tickets.

Generally proper delivery companies are a load better than royal mail and will do things like phone you when attempting delivery.

Posties are lazy bastards, I often get mail for other houses and I know they get stuff for that's for me. I also have someone in a flat near me who likes to use my address for stuff to be delivered to or for credit checks and the like. I have had the bailiffs around a few times, but for the flat.

Thanks for the replies. It is a bit strange this TV license post is the only thing i’ve got for myself in about 2 months.
I usually get my post delivered to my mums as i know it’s reliable but i changed my address on Amazon because it’s convenient not to keep going to my parents place.
So if these packets have been mislaid, is there any chance of tracking what happened to them? They were bought with ‘standard delivery’ on Amazon.

I keep everything going to my Mum's place too since I move every 12 months or so.

I wouldn't worry about TV licensing saying they've sent letters in the past which you haven't recieved. They probably haven't sent anything and are using the usual array of scare tactics along the lines of 'we attempted to contact you on...' etc without ever having done so. DCA's do it too.

Can't comment on the amazon thing, as long as your doors or letter box is clearly marked with a number and name, what more can you do?

I intentionally keep mine vague because everyone is out to get me, so no name or number.

Joking, just most people...

I've never paid for a TV licence in the last 5 places i've lived. Every time they send scarier and scarier looking letters in more and more expensive paper using ever more red text. Not once has anything ever come of any of it. Not once has anybody been round to check. If they were to do so i know i have no legal requirement to answer the door, let them in or tell them sod all.

Letters from TV licensing people can just be ignored.

If your delivery doesn't arrive tomorrow then start hassling Amazon.

Ignore the tv licensing letters. Just bin them. It's all hot air, I've been receiving them for 5 years and nothing has ever happened.

Bit of a long shot but when I changed my address on Amazon I would frequently get them sent to my old address (luckily my mum's house) instead of the address specified. It never really got rectified and about 70% of all packages from amazon still get delivered to my mum's.
Have you contacted her recently?

I had a case a while back where a family rocked up to the nick and complained that they hadn't had any post for weeks, and they thought their 6-cats-mad neighbour was intercepting it. They had about 4 or 5 adults in the same household so it did seem a bit unlikely that they weren't getting bills/statements/hunk through daily.

As I took the report I asked if they'd noticed anything unusual or suspicious - the dad said "Oh yes, the other day I smelt burning at 4am, looked out of the window and saw her using a BBQ to set fire to a load of papers and letters. When she saw me looking she laughed like a witch for about 5 minutes. I went back to sleep, I didn't think of calling the police - you don't think it's related to our missing post do you?"

Brick Wall

A crazy witch downstairs. Burning post at 4am. Laughing at you when you see her burning post. When your post is missing. No, I'm sure there's no connection at all...

Smelt any bonfires recently Killa...? Wink

I'm sure I remember that there was a day/week recently when the post went haywire and stuff had gone missing for weeks. Was it a strike? Have they had another one somewhere? I also remember another time with a story similar to yours. Someone had sent a load of eBay stuff out and people had contacted him saying it hadn't turned up. When they checked his local sorting office, they found a misplaced basket with all his stuff in it, and a load more too. Sounds like something similar's happening...
